Prefix the applescripts shipped with Bookends

Users of Launchbar and Alfred access all scritps at the same time in the launching utility window, whether they are working on Bookends, Word, Pages or any other app. It is not easy to recall if an applescript named "Scan Document" is to be used from Word or Pages, for Bookends or for an O...

Re: Is there any reason for commas in Copy citation?

Even if the format of the BibTex key generator for the User1 field remains not customisable by the user, I believe there is a strong point for it to automatically include the first word of the title in a key, as default or as a preference choice. When one faces the sorts of unintuitive [Smith2006g] ...

Re: Format to import from DevonThink

I mean importing Bookends references in Devonthink. The format of the content of the rtf file created inside Devonthink used to be different. Now I only get inside that file "author - date - title" -this is my custom format for renaming Bookends references attached files. Before this probl...

Re: Is there any reason for commas in Copy citation?

Thanks. I will opt for Bookends' user1 field, which is dedicated to the Bibtex key. I find this key both more clear and reliable long-term. That is if it is not in the format of author+year+letter for repeated year. How can the BibTex key generator in Bookends be customized to output author+year+sho...

Format to import from DevonThink

I seem to have been using the same format for renaming Bookends attached files and for importing Bookends references into DevonThink. I cannot work how this happened out, and a clarification will help for it not to happen again. In order to solve the situation, I have deleted the said format in Book...

Re: Is there any reason for commas in Copy citation?

Alright. Then, in Format Manager I have to create a new format containing a (author) d (date)... and I cannot find the Unique ID field. Please help. As a side note, I understand "unique" and permanent are not the same. These IDs can be automatically modified by Bookends for a reference whe...

Is there any reason for commas in Copy citation?

I would like to know if commas serve any function in "Author, Date, Unique ID", or it would serve exactly the same purpose to modify the copy citation format from [Aduriz et al., 2006, #68434] to [Aduriz et al 2006 #68434]. Commas and periods as punctuation marks can be problematic. For ex...

Tag clouds + Apple tags to classify files

Congratulations for the adoption of Apple tagging. The combination of Bookends' tag cloud and Apple tags is a powerful tool for the classification of files that I have seen in no other app, even dedicated tagging apps. Let's say I'm researching on water. I look for such word in the automatically gen...

Re: Could a "Cited by" field import such information from references?

I would certainly change Elsevier's policy if I could. Since that is the main service I use, there are two options left which I know of. I am interested in how they work because they are the ones that apply to any service site. The first option would be to get out of BookEnds and search in Fi...

Re: Could a "Cited by" field import such information from references?

I cannot use BookEnds' Web of Science filter. Whilst I can access the site from the browser, the online search with the filter rejects my search. I have seen that I could input a user name and password in the import filter manager, but then we connect without them, just with our university library's...

Re: Separate editing window

I understand a separate window can add functionality in this case. But please keep integrated windows as an option because the convenience of the interface is an important consideration for users. Separate windows are messy to work with, even when they memorise their previous position. They constant...

Could a "Cited by" field import such information from references?

Large databases such as Scopus, which I mainly use, include information about the number of articles which have cited a journal article. Such a field would be useful for me because I keep a larga database for searches, separated from the curated ones. This field would allow to sort references by tha...

Re: When is BookEnds going to implement Apple tags?

I don't know about other users, but I am so interested in this feature that the unresponsiveness of Third Street software about system-wide tags (5 years, as it goes back to OpenMeta tags) has decided me to go through the hassle of finding another reference manager. I am already close enough to not ...

Re: When is BookEnds going to implement Apple tags?

Thanks for your reply, Jon. I mean tagging files, not references, and with Apple's tagging system, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202754 . Since I include a number of new pdfs from internet directly into BookEnds, it would be very convenient to be able to tag those files in this app, instead of h...
