Believe it or not, I've had just as odd error messages reported by users -- you never joke with tech support!
Bookends saves the alias of an folder in which an attachment is stored. IIRC, the alias is relative to the root volume. So if you boot into a different partition, the alias won't resolve ...

That error message isn't coming from Bookends. I don't know what app (perhaps the OS) is doing it.
