On the Mellel forum, things seem right whatever the MacOs version (http://forum.mellel.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3706). However, you might have an issue with Live bibliography (http://forum.mellel.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3677). Personally, I don't use this function. But it could be a good thin...

I have used both softwares today with no issues. Might be something specifically on your side. Rebooting is underrated

Mellel 4.1 should offer a better support for exporting in Word format. The release is near. So it might help.

Haven't play a lot with the new version, but the process of upgrading went smoothly and all is fine

I realize that I never use double-click on a reference. The reason is that my Edit and Bottom panes are always open, so I can see what I wish every time I click on a reference.
For me, double-click means “something that opens with a pop-up”. Not sure it should be the PDF, but it won’t be a bad idea.
