Unlock notecards
A few years ago, There was a question about how to use the automatic pagination function in notecards if you were working with a book with a lot of front matter. The reply was to edit the page numbers by hand. Two questions: 1) Has this function been changed to allow for discounting the front matter...

Starting over
I have been using Bookends for a fairly long time, and I have also accumulated a very large collection of pdfs, many of which I do not need but have nevertheless filed in Bookends. I increasingly feel that my library has become very messy and difficult to work with. I am tempted to move all the pdf'...

Re: Attachments not found
Thanks, Jon, I am working on building a file of attachments outside Bookends so I can cross reference. Will see what happens.

I have been ignoring this issue for a while but I need to fix it. Fairly frequently I will load a series of documents through the Bookends Watch and when I go to autocomplete them I get a message that the document cannot be found. The listing is there, at the top of the list of references. Here is a...

Re: Bookends not working in Scrivener
I now realize that I did try the floating citation when it came out, but I can't remember the sequence of keys I used to activate it. How can I reset it? Also, I have just installed Mojave, but I am not familiar with the Apple function you mention.
Thanks also for staying with me on this.

Re: Bookends not working in Scrivener
I did select Scrivener in preferences, but it didn't work. Went back and forth between Scrivener and word a couple of times, and still no result. I am afraid I am not sure what floating citations are. Is there a description in the system somewhere. Sorry about the ignorance, but it is a new concept ...

Bookends not working in Scrivener
I typically use Scrivener for drafting papers, but recently I have been unable to get Bookends to insert reference codes. Everything works fine in Word, but Scrivener just sits there with no references. I have switched out to word and back to Scrivener, but still no success. Any thoughts?

No reader in autocomplete
I am trying to add some pdf documents, and the Autocomplete function has no image of the paper. I get a messages that says "Adobe PDFviewer cannot find a compatible Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to view this PDF. Please select one." I do not use Adobe any more, and don't even have it insta...

Google Reference search
I have been having trouble for the last several days getting search results to show up for new pdf documents from scholarly journals. I know there can be times when Google stops access due to suspicions of automatic systems at work, but I have not had that problem for quite some time, and I frequent...

Re: Apple App Store
Fantastic. Thanks for the notification. Bookends is by far the best bibliography system I have used, and I have tried them all. Glad to have it back in working order.

Apple App Store
Dear Jon--
Could you update those of us who download from Apple on where things stand with the stability tests and the availability of the new update at the App Store.

Re: Google scholar searches not working
I have run into the same problem, starting a couple of days ago. I cannot get metadata at all, and I have worked both from my home and from the library at the University of Chicago. I do really appreciate all the functionality of Bookends, over several other systems I have used, and I can easily und...

Re: Autocomplete
Thanks, that is an interesting thread. Google is a very frustrating system at times.
