Re: Setting up Bookends to work with Ulysses
Thanks Jon. I've been going shift-command-y / command-c / command-y and then command v for I don't know how long. Well that's another keystroke saved

Re: Setting up Bookends to work with Ulysses
I do this all the time but it takes a bit of setting up. First, in Ulysses, you need to create a markup that works for the Citations. So, Ulysses -> Preferences -> I copied the MarkuP XL setting and named it Citation Markup Then under Text I created a Citation markup using the Pipe symbol as the del...

My point was that perhaps you might ask the question there.

Re: Bookends and workflow
My aim was not to negate your question but simply to point out that you have already an application that does what you want. I don't believe this is the place sort out DTP issues, however, and that's why I encourage you to bring it to the DevonThink forum. As far as your core issue goes, no I don't ...

Re: Bookends and workflow
One for the DT forum I would have thought. And if you do go that route you might explain is some detail what you entered where when searching.

Re: Bookends and workflow
I'm not sure you've explored DevonThink to the fullest if you think it's a toy. What you're describing it pretty much what DTPO does.

Re: Rearranging field order in Bookends 12.5.2
If you're using import filters to acquire these, you can easily edit the filter to put ISBN/ISSN in u1 instead of u5. There is much to admire in that sentence, if only I understood it :D My most common way to input books is to add the ISBN number and then use the 'Autofill from Internet' command......

Re: Rearranging field order in Bookends 12.5.2
Can I second this: Thanks for listening. And congratulations for the good work you’ve been doing over the years. The ability to move fields is a very positive improvement for me. Now, if I could only move the ISBN/ISSN field to the main tab then I simply would never need to use the other tabs again,...

Re: Bookends 12.5 Feedback
I too would like to be able to decide what fields appear where and in what order. I'm rather better able than others to decide the relevance of fields like Abstract and Notes to my workflow.

Re: Optimal combination of DT and BE?
You can have unlimited DTP databases. I have 5 for instance. But IIRC the number of items in a db doesn't really matter, it's the number of words indexed. Bit that's more one to ask on the DevonThink forums

Re: Optimal combination of DT and BE?
Ph.D in the Humanities candidate here and this is my workflow, fwiw. I divide the workflow into two separate sections. 1. Managing the pdfs/epubs/whatevers and citations 2. Processing the information I use BE to manage the pdfs and the citations. When I acquire a source I import it to BE and make su...

Re: Searching inside PDFs - single use, not Library-wide?
Not only does it not give me direct access to all the hits, it also cannot handle proximity searches (find X near Y) which I find one of the most crucial types of searches when doing research. DevonTHINK does this. Search a Library, multiple Libraries or just one part of a Library and it will offer...
