Is there a way to do this but with the reference currently selected in Bookends? (Say, scriptable from a TextExpander shortcut when Bookends is in the background to insert the citation directly into the foremost program?)

I'm sad the separate reference window is gone. I liked that a lot and used it. I lost all my static groups at the base level but not in folders, and when I tried to open my backup it crashed, removing everything. And apparently however Dropbox backs stuff up couldn't do it right, as Bookends won't o...
