Hi, Jon,
I found that; it's just a bit slower than the "other" method. But thanks for mentioning it.

Re: Keywords applied to group

<snip> I think it would be so much easier and Mac intuitive to drag and drop a term from the keyword list window over a selected group of references OR drag and drop the group of references over onto a term in the keyword list.

I'm used to that functionality in (whisper) BibDesk. You can drag ...

Re: Static vs Smart Groups

Hi,

Smart groups are useful because they automatically add relevant references to the list. If you have to tag them, it makes the smart groups a bit less useful (to me, anyway). But useful nonetheless. Note that if you are using keywords, the keywords Term List offers something that might suffice ...

Re: Keywords revisited: tag clouds? better keyword browsing?

b) Is there some way to get the cloud to recognize combination terms? For instance, if I have the term "New York", I don't want to see "new" and "york" separately in the cloud. I tried putting curly brackets around terms like that, but it didn't affect it. Is there some other method? If not, could ...

The long list of words is in a textbox, edit field, whatever. Just like the field I'm typing in now to enter this message. Click in it and type. Maybe it's too simple...

Re: Keywords revisited: tag clouds? better keyword browsing?

Yes--I meant on the left, where groups are. I imagined that one could toggle an arrow (for instance) by the word "groups" and choose to display term lists instead.

There is a downside to that. One of the nice features of the Term Lists is that you can easily insert terms into a reference by ...

Re: Keywords revisited: tag clouds? better keyword browsing?

In the prefs tab, I see the list of tags that are ignored, and I see a place to select color and font size. But there is nothing that says "add", or has +/- symbols, or that is a field to type in. What am I missing? Here's a picture of what I see in prefs:

It's a textbox that you can type in ...

Re: Keywords revisited: tag clouds? better keyword browsing?

If you mean you'd like Term Lists to display there (or on the left where groups are), that sounds like an idea I've been toying with. It would not be simple to implement, but is something to think about.

Re: Javascript not enabled in JSTOR?

Sounds like this is one place where Zotero still has an advantage. You can enter your JSTOR (or any other) proxy in preferences, and Zotero automatically changes the regular URL to the proxy URL so you can download PDFs instantly along with the citation.

Re: Keywords revisited: tag clouds? better keyword browsing?

I've just come back to Bookends after a hiatus using (clears throat) other bib/pdf software, and am really thrilled with the improvements. The tag cloud is very useful, and the ability to put collections in folders is a winner (at least I don't remember that being there a couple years ago). I have a ...

Bookends supports the 13 canonical BibTeX reference types, and I added "collection" just recently. It doesn't know about anything called a "webpage". If you do a search/replace in your text file and replace "webpage" with one of the BibTeX reference types (e.g. article) it should import OK.

Also ...

"Save" button for import filter manager?

Would it be possible to add "save" and "cancel" buttons to the import filter manager? When doing a lot of testing, it would save having to close and reopen the manager repeatedly.

Thanks!

BibTex import problem

None of these records will import individually, although if I import them as a group they are lumped into one Bookends record. As far as I can tell, I have dealt with all the field names in the BibTex import filter. Any help is appreciated.
