Re: Attachment Disaster

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear. It's not that I don't want BE to see the Other's Papers folder, it's just that I wanted it to use it as a source out of which to copy attachments that I linked to references. I didn't want it to store its attachments in that folder (ideally, I do not want any ref manager t...

Attachment Disaster

I think this is probably my fault, so I'm just asking for help, not pointing fingers. My original idea was to have a folder that I called Other's Papers in which would be sub folders for each author for whom I had one or more paper (I'm assuming PDFs all the way down here). Then Bookends would copy ...

Re: Import from EN 20

I kept trying after my previous post and I finally got it. That fixed it. Sorry!

Re: Import from EN 20

Sorry, just got around to this again. I do not know how to make sure that EN 20 and BE can talk to each other "in Privacy". Can you please tell me how to do that? Sorry to not know this.

Import from EN 20

I can import from Endnote 20 via an exported file just fine, but I cannot get the apple events method to work. I have tried linking BE to EN, but that did not help. Is this a change in EN 20 that has broken this or what am I doing wrong. I have both up and the ref I want to export selected in EN 20,...

Re: To endnote and back again . . .

No, because that would have meant that I am intelligent. I am not! Sorry to have missed that, since I think I went through something similar when I came to Mellel from Scrivener. Thanks for the quick reply!

Re: To endnote and back again . . .

Hit a roadblock. It turned out that the simplest thing to do was to open the document in word for Mac and re-enter the citations from bookends that way. I did that. I then import of the document into Mellel 4. However, I now have a new problem. I cannot get this document to scan. The citations were ...

Typo

I was going through the user guide to find something and I noticed this: "simply add it to the text in from of the temporary citation". I think that was supposed to be "in front of". This is from p. 242 in the User Guide.

Re: To endnote and back again . . .

I am not seeing a way to export the DB as a whole, am I missing something? Or am I right in thinking that I need to do a search or something analogous to that and then export the "hits"?

Re: To endnote and back again . . .

It just occurred to me, can one do this in reverse? Export from Bookends and put into an empty Endnote DB? Or does that not work? Any ideas?

Re: To endnote and back again . . .

Well, to be fair Word can get it if I write a macro. The problem stems from the fact that Word uses the same style for both the number in the text and the number in the note. So if you want the note number to be non-superscripted you have to change the number in the note manually, or with a macro. I...

Re: To endnote and back again . . .

That looks promising! I will try ASAP and report back. Once I get the citations in word to match bookends then I can easily import into Mellel, or at least that seems right. Thank you!

To endnote and back again . . .

I was in the middle of revising my dissertation when dragon for the Mac died. Discontinued to be precise. So as I'm working on revisions I've been dictating them in Word for windows using Dragon for windows and Endnote. However,I really do not want to do the final version In word on either platform....
