Re: Quoting primary sources through Bookends

You are right, and it's easy. Create a new Type (Primary Source) and assign it to this sort of reference. Put your information (e.g. 8g/46) in one field or two (one field is probably better, such as Title). You can rename Title for that Type in preferences to Source if you prefer. Then in the format...

Re: Autocomplete Paper and Book Reviews (Newbie)

Bookends uses whatever filter you have selected for Autocomplete Paper (e.g. Google Scholar). You can edit the import to catch information the default filter doesn't get. Try the same search in Online Search first -- you'll see in the bottom pane what Bookends gets from the source.

Re: How to include cited paragraphs instead of pages in citation

There is a way to do with the cited pages, but it would be a kludge. Use "literal text" instead:

{temp cite\, §2\}

Like all formatting, that's controlled by the format's settings. Please see the User Guide (Help menu) for how to create and edit formats. You can start with this short video tutorial.

You can write to tech support, we have one. It's for journals only, we didn't find examples of books or book chapters.

Re: Attachments not found

If you're using the iOS sync folder for PDFs then the top level attachment folder is Documents. /Users/yourname/Library/Mobile Documents/iCloud~com~sonnysoftware~bot/Documents That's where I'd move them, not a subfolder. Do this with just one reference/PDF first, to make sure it works as you intend....

At the top of this forum is an announcement containing the URL of an anonymous FTP server from which you can download any format or filter that we ship.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1879

Once downloaded, double click on it to install.

Re: Merging Zotero and Devonthink in Bookends

If I understand you correctly, you want to import reference metadata from Zotero and attach PDFs from DTP. If so, Bookends won't match the PDFs to the references unless they have a similar unique identifier (e.g. a DOI). Your choice would be to select a reference and then drop the corresponding PDF ...

If you have attachments that are outside the default folder and want to move them to it, use Global Change -> Consolidate Attachments.

Read up on this in the user guide (Help menu).

Re: Download unexisting import filters

Creating a new filter is usually done by selecting one that may be close, creating a new one, and changing the settings in the Internet tab to match those for the library in question (they are the Z39.50 server settings). You can often get these settings from the Internet, but if not you can ask the...

Re: Attachments not found

This is due to changes in Catalina AppleScript. It's fixed in the next Bookends update. For now, go to Bookends Preferences and, in the first tab, setyour default PDF viewer to Finder Default.
