Re: Automatic PDF Annotation notes like Bookends for iOS?

I explained how to do that above. --------- To import an annotation into the database, right-click on it in the note stream and select "Add the selected PDF annotation to Bookends". --------- This can't be done in the reference edit pane -- no note stream options are available there because the note...

Anything, including literal text, can be included in a conditional group.

Re: Automatic PDF Annotation notes like Bookends for iOS?

That command you referred to makes a PDF note -- an annotation! It has nothing to do with importing the text into the library, which is what I gather you want to do. To import an annotation into the database, right-click on it in the note stream and select "Add the selected PDF annotation to Bookend...

Re: Automatic PDF Annotation notes like Bookends for iOS?

These are 2 different types of annotation. You had a chance to make a PDF Note annotation when you selected the text. Instead you chose to create a highlight annotation. There nothing stopping you from making a Note as well, it just won't automatically contain the selected text, but you can enter th...

Re: Automatic PDF Annotation notes like Bookends for iOS?

1. To see annotations in the note stream you have to enable that in the Action popup.

2. There is no selected text to make a note from. And it seems it's already a note card in the database.

Please contact tech support directly and send a publically-accessible (i.e. not behind a paywall) URL that causes this problem.

Re: Creating removable in-text citations question

I can't think of an ad hoc way to do that. You may have to simply enter the page number a normal text. There may be special cases where you can, for example if this is the second cite for that article, the format calls for "Ibid", and you choose to suppress "Ibid." for that citation with the = metac...

Re: [Feature Request] Auto-sync to a BibTeX File

This has been discussed on the forum (several times, I think). It's not possible because, as you say, it's slow. Imagine Bookends formatted 1000 references as BibTeX every time you change a comma in a field. I'm guessing (really just a guess) that Mendeley keeps a BibTeX-formatted copy of each refer...

Re: Help with user-defined field

Just click twice, slowly, on one of the names and you can edit it. Again, it's just a label. You can rename a field "Moskowitz" and it won't have any effect on the database. It's just what you see. Nothing will change in the database itself. It's the field that matters, and you can't change that. Ju...

Re: Help with user-defined field

Rename the user-defined fields in Preferences. it's just a name, whatever that field is capable of won't change when the name changes.

Re: Renaming attachments not working

OK. If it still happens once you do, try moving the attachments folder out of iCloud Drive (and resetting the location in preferences) and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Renaming attachments not working

This sounds like permissions problems on your Mac, something that Bookends can't do anything about. You might try giving Bookends Full Disk Access in System Preferences and see if that helps.
