Yes, rtfd, of course. These are bundles, as I recall. You can open the bundle, move the RTF portion to the desktop (or whever), scan that, and then move it back into the rtfd bundle. A small pain, yes. But it should work. Pages uses a proprietary XML format that can be changed anytime Apple wants. S...

That's odd. RTF handles pictures just fine. I would have thought that Pages 2 would include them in the RTF file. I'll check with Pages (v1) when I get to a machine that has it later today.

Hi san,

I think the in-text citations are replaced (they should be for all RTF files that are scanned). Was the format you used one that replaces citations with author-date?

Please contact me directly for tech support if you have problems with this...

Hi, Thanks for the info. It might help with automatic insertion of citations (so you don't have to do the paste yourself). Would you please try Copy Citation with Pages 2 and see if the insertion occurs automatically? You have to be linked to Pages 2 first (Bookends Preferences). Thanks, Jon Sonny S...

You'd have to use a custom citation format. You can read up on these in the User Guide (a separate download from our web site).

Hi Danny, I'll go over these suggestions later. One quick point -- the * means treat the field like a name. Whether that name is treated like and author or an editor can be set in the format itself (first tab: under Names, "Others like: authors/editors"). That means, output names in user-d...

Not I. If I option-drag or Copy Formatted, italics are pasted into Mellel just fine. Are your sure the font you are using has an italic face? This is a tech support issue in any event, so please contact us directly if you have problems with italic fonts and Mellel.

Hi, Thanks. Hm, it does stop on Month/Day for me. But the tab order may not be exactly what you expect. It was set when Bookends 7 was released, and the original order has been mainted ever since for reasons dealing with backwards compatibility. If you get to Notes, the next tab takes you to Month/D...

Hm, I don't think there will be a problem, at least not at this time. But the build-in importer is more powerful, gives you a Copy To button, lets you remove items with the Delete key, saves searches, does automated PubMed searches, and maybe something else that escapes me. Also, I work on and debug...

Not at the present, although it's something I'd like to add.

BTW, don't use Reference Miner with Bookends 8 or 9 -- use the built-in Internet Search (Utilities menu).

Topic: Bookends "Copy Citation" not working with TexShop

For the paste to work, the linked application must understand the AppleEvent that Bookends sends it. My guess is that TexShop either doesn't handle AppleEvents (at least the paste AE) or that it uses a nonstandard AE for this. The solution, as you found, is to press the Command-V yourself. Hi, How is the name entered in the database? Bookends expects surname, first name. If it's not, the Bookends should output the entire name as you entered it. Perhaps you have a name entered as surname last? I'd have to have an example to see why two spaces, but don't worry about it -- Bookends will ...

Hi,

A few people have reported this, but I can never reproduce it. It may be some odd permissions issue, but it's hard to say. The solution that seems to work is to remove Bookends Preferences and reinstall Bookends from scratch.

Hi Michael,

I used to be a lowly clinician myself :-). I'll give it some more thought. If you want to continue this discussion at a future time, please contact me directly (support@sonnysoftware.com) and we'll talk about it.
