Re: Adding citation before each entry in bibliography
Just getting the citation part wouldn't be that hard, but getting it right for edge cases. … If such cases could be ignored then it would be much more do-able …. In this case, I would opt for ignoring edge cases. Editing these few (if any) manually later in the finalized bibliography is less hassle...

Re: Adding citation before each entry in bibliography
Sorry to nag: Is there any news in this direction? This feature missing stopps me to recommend BE unconditionally to colleagues using Mac.

Re: Bookends and Devonthink
At least with my setup, Alfred works much, much simpler: I have saved the script as application and renamed it to be as unique as possible (it does not really matter where it is saved, Alfred will find it). I then invoke Alfred by typing ALT-Tabulator, and usually already the first two typed letters...

Re: Opening attachments in Devonthink? Or Using Script?
Thanks for the clarification. I think what I have in mind requires another workflow then, one that includes some scripting and/or the use of Alfred. You might want to look at this thread: https://www.sonnysoftware.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3454 I have adapted the script there a little bit ...

Bookends and Devonthink Update
The problem mentioned above was solved in one of the last updates, so I post an updated version here (the devonthink link is pasted in user-field 20). tell application "Bookends" try set theID to «event ToySRUID» "Selection" if theID is {} then error "Nothing selected in Boo...

Re: Bookends 12.5 Feedback
I have just noticed a strange behaviour when changing data manually in the right reference pane (it might have been present in the versions before, but I am not sure): - when I click on the title of a field a window opens with the input of that field. After editing and saving, the font size shrinks,...

Re: 12.5 is a great update!
I notice that if the top of the programme window is shoved to the top, the small black line beneath the menu bar disappears (see attachment). BTW, the old icon (which I liked, being an historian) still shows up in the application switcher (tab-cmd).

Re: Opening PDFs
Oh, dragging the icon is a pretty quick solution. I didn't think of that! All I have to do is open Acrobat first. In fact, it seems to work even though I am using the PDF annotation view! Dragging the icon on the application switcher (first drag the icon, then invoke cmd + tab) should also work. Ch...

Re: Bookends service + applescript?
Bookends has so many useful features like this that it's impossible to highlight them all. Note that if you have the PDF, you could also do an Autocomplete Paper (Shift-Command-C) on it and Bookends would find the DOI in the PDF for you and offer to autocomplete based on that. See? :-) I see! Howev...

Re: Bookends service + applescript?
Yes, I just mentioned entering into a text file and dragging from there to show how it would work if you dragged it from anywhere . I didn't realize that this is possible but it is extremly helpful! For example, I have lots of pdfs from colleagues where the DOI is printed on the first page, and thi...

Indeed, now it also works with the user fields. Many thanks for the quick fix!

AppleScript event "Set the contents of a specific field"
I have tried the new applescript-command "Set the contents of a specific field" (BE 12.2, OS 10.9.3). With the standard field names like "authors", "abstract", "notes" etc. it works as expected; however, with one of the user fields I get the following error: &...

Re: Chance of AppleScript support expanding (or alternatives
That would be really awesome, as it is this ability which is still missing in my script for linking Devonthink Pro and Bookends (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3454).Jon wrote:Yes, I think that the ability to change a field externally is probably a good feature to add.

Re: Adding citation before each entry in bibliography
I actually spent a lot of time thinking about how to mix citations with bibliography outputs (which is essence what you want to do I think), and couldn't come up with a reasonable solution. I'll keep revisiting this, but at this time they cannot be mixed. If I might chime in again: I know nothing o...

Re: Integrating Bookends, Scrivener and Devonthink
I don't understand exactly what you're doing well enough to say. All I can tell you is that the RTF is malformed if it contains UTF-8 characters. RTF is ASCII only (and even then, 7 bit ASCII). UTF-8 must be "encoded" in RTF so that RTF readers can render the characters properly. For thos...
