Talking about Journal Glossaries, I found a typographical error in the Humanities glossary file. The file has "Fró_skaparrit", but it should be "Fróðskaparrit".

Re: Thai authors

I am using NIsus, but I have never dealt enough into the Macro language. Hi pharaoh/Rob, "Mixed" bibliographies are by no means restricted to Thailand, or the East for that matter. They are the norm in Western countries where patronymics are used instead of family names. Bibliographies which contai...

Re: Convert Author-Date format to Footnotes

I guess I am stuck with manually creating them. You can do it the hard way, or you can do it the easy way. I would do it with the trial version which is fully functional for 14 days. Instead of doing it manually, you would have all your document converted in two or three seconds. Then I would save ...

Re: Help with constructing a search

I'm using Mellel. I don't use Mellel, so I can't answer your last question. In Bookends User Guide (p. 228) it just says Bookends library is checked to "ensure that the temporary citations are valid and unambiguous. If one or more citations are not, Bookends will be brought to the front for you to ...

Re: Convert Author-Date format to Footnotes

Is there an easier way to convert Author-Date citations into footnotes than copy and paste? Sure, Nisus Writer Pro is predestined to do this kind of stuff. 1. Unscan Document (Tools > Bibliography > Unscan Document) 2. Run this macro in Nisus "Convert inline citations from Bookends to footnot...

Re: Help with constructing a search

a search to show me all entries
I'm not sure what you mean by "entries". If you mean references, then you might want to try this:

1. Create a group with all references that are in the document you are currently working on
2. Then create a smart group with these search criteria

Re: Thai authors

I have this problem too. One solution is to enter the name you want output in a user-defined field (e.g. user1) and in the format tell Bookends to output that (u1) were the name should be. That may not be a viable solution for everyone, especially for those who work in the humanities, because all us...

Re: Spotlight does not find text in Wikipedia articles saved by Safari as Web Archives

Other Safari Web Archives are fine. It's just text in articles from *Wikipedia* that can't be found. I think I have to correct myself. It seems Spotlight can sometimes find text in Safari Web Archives (other than Wikipedia articles) and sometimes not . I haven't found any pattern; this seems to be ...

Spotlight does not find text in Wikipedia articles saved by Safari as Web Archives

Bug report : I have just found out that Spotlight can not find text in Wikipedia articles that have been saved to disk as Safari Web Archives. This affects Bookends and is the reason why Bookends can't find text in Wikipedia articles stored in the Attachments folder. Other Safari Web Archives are f...

Re: reference types

I'm wondering whether there exists, somewhere out there, a collection of Reference Types to supplement those that ship with BE (speech, review, press release, blog post, etc). Dear Stephen, I have learned to make a clear distinction between text types (in the sense literary scholars use that term) ...

Re: Copy Note And Citation renders only Plain Text

once we include styled text, the font and size may not agree with what's in the word processor (because that setting is coming from Bookends) That shouldn't be a problem, because a professional writer uses a *paragraph* style for lengthily quotations, and a paragraph style determines the font, size...

Re: Entering Collection References

Hi Corey, Unfortunately it's not clear what you mean. What is a "collection"? Groups are also called collections in the User Guide, p. 65, but I guess that's not what you mean. Do you mean a *reference type * such as "Edited book"? Screen Shot 2015-06-24 at 15.27.24.png Chapters are entered into Boo...

Re: Copy Note And Citation renders only Plain Text

I've forgotten exactly how this was to work to be frank, but since citations should be in plain text this is by design. Let me clarify. I'm talking about quotations in Notecards here. In scholarly papers quotations must correspond exactly to the original source. If passages in the original source a...

Copy Note And Citation renders only Plain Text

In the User Guide, p. 87f., we can read: "Notecards can display styled text (italics, bold, underline, and color), which is useful for organizing and highlighting your thoughts." and "To insert the notecard contents followed by the temporary citation, use Edit -> Copy Note And Citation (Command-K) "...
