Re: Copy Formatted Not Working
If you can't post there because you haven't been able to register, then posting more details here might be almost as useful. I think that quite a few of us who use Mellel and Bookends hang out here too.

Re: APA formatting
Useful and not too klunky, in my opinion.

Re: Data mining one's own library
About the missing results: I remember hearing that Spotlight only indexes the first n pages of long documents (for some value of n that I don't remember). Does anyone know if that is (still) true?

Re: Data mining one's own library
Isn't the Spotlight search in Bookends exactly what you are asking for? See pp 89-90 of the user guide.

Re: Bookends 12 released
Why are you changing the font size in the reference window? While you can have rich text in references it works much better to leave it unstyled and control the size it displays at in the preferences: Bookends>Preferences... General tab. Default fonts section. Choose References in the left-hand drop...

Re: BE and Mellel question
I would encourage you to post this question on the Mellel forums. RedleX seem to be more active again these days, so perhaps they'll fix this if they hear that it's inconvenient for some users.

Re: BE and Mellel question
It can't be zoomed and you can't control the font size there except by using a larger point size for the text that the citation is in.
It's controlled by Mellel. I brought this up with th Redlers years ago, but they have never got round to it.

Yes. Trying this, it's the same here. Also Bookends produced an error message while doing this, which I'm sending in.

Re: Bookends 12 released
I want to echo this. I've just worked out that I've been using Bookends for eight years. It's been indispensable from the start, but keeps getting better. Thanks Jon.Using Bookends has been a steady and reliable help over the course of my whole academic career.

Re: APA formatting
Yes, I can see there must be costs to implementing this. I just wanted to indicate that there would be a sizeable benefit for at least some users. (Those of us who live in APA-world...)
I know that the cost-benefit analysis and decision one way or another is up to you, of course.

Re: APA formatting
Having this feature would be a considerable benefit to me too. In my part of linguistics, APA is ubiquitous. The (newish) feature to put the author(s) in front of the brackets is great, but as it stands, can only be used for sole authors and groups that are long enough to be 'Author et al.'.

In the menubar (the list of words across the top of the screen) click on Help. The user guide is the third or fourth choice in the resulting menu.

Re: Bookends-Mellel connection broken
While we wait for 10.8.3, does anyone know what triggers this behaviour? It would be nice to be able to keep logging-out and back in to a minimum, and if we knew what breaks the Mellel-Bookends connection, perhaps we could avoid it.

Re: Vanishing search box cursor
I'm really happy that you are working on this. The disappearing cursor is a big deal, I'm afraid. I'm always deleting the wrong thing when editing references because the cursor has disappeared at just the wrong moment.
