Re: Edited Books

Yes. The citation for an edited book would be: Smith, A. B., & Jones, C. D. (Eds.) (Year.) Title. Right. I checked, too, and have fixed it in the production copy. In the text citation, it would be (Smith & Jones, Year). As I mentioned, I tried to fix that in the APA Citations bib format but...

Hi, Are you saying that for edited books the editors name should be surname first? Easily done. As for unscanning, does the citation delimiter setting in your Preferences match that in the document (i.e. when the document was scanned)? If so, did you "Retain hidden citations" when you did ...

A few more comments on the pdf-linking. 1) I don't fully understand the caching you refer to if I search for paper A, does the cache generated speed up the search for paper B? It's not my code, of course (it's Apple's). But try it yourself. In my experience, a second Spotlight search for a new set ...

Hi, Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, the humanities are years behind biomedical research in terms of organized literature information on line (thanks to the efforts of the NIH, mostly). I'm afraid there is no unified method for the humanities literature that is analogous. Jon Sonny Software

The WOS filter isn't for Internet Search -- it's for importing files downloaded from WOS.

Filters that are in italics are for Internet Search. Those that aren't won't work for that.

Re: colour-coding is good

No more cumbersome than "Go to Ref #". Bring up dialog, enter 5 digit number, press OK.

The sequential number is stable as long as you don't delete references. There is no "Go to Unique ID #", but you can do a Find for a reference with a particular unique id.

One thought -- Bookends lets you color-code references, which I would think would be useful here. You can also create static groups that you can add to with Command key shortcuts very easily.

This error is usually fatal. I'd go back to the last backup you have and rebuild that database.

Hi, Be careful with the full medline catalog -- it certainly slows down scanning if you have 5000 or so journals for Bookends to slog through for each reference it formats. I suggest adding the ones you want to Concise Medline by hand. The Get PDF feature was added yesterday. Thanks. Hm I don't unde...

Sure. But I don't like cluttering up Preferences with things for which there isn't much call. That's why I'm trying to gauge people's interest.

How about this -- both? As in

Hi Danny, Yes, it is an ad hoc solution, and automating it actually only adds a small amount of value (you can do the export as BibTeX manually at any time, and it's very easy to do: Biblio -> Send to Disk, Plain Text, BibTeX format). As for working with other developers, of course we're open to tha...
