Re: Bookends Sync and iCloud Drive explained

Yes, some way to sync between Bookends and Bookends on Tap via the cloud would be great!

Re: Bookends Sync and iCloud Disk explained

Hi Jon,

You mean "iCloud Drive" for "iCloud Disk," correct?

Is information on Bookends Sync available in the documentation for Bookends on Tap?

Re: MS Word plugin – will it work with the new 2016 release?

Try Fast Scripts. It allows you to assign command-key equivalents to scripts, among other features.

So does Word 2016 now work with Bookends as before, except that one has to execute scripts from outside the program? No other problems?

Re: MS Word plugin – will it work with the new 2016 release?

Yes. Until now, Bookends has been automatically updating its scripts with every update, hasn't it? So now that Word 2016 won't have its own scripts folder, will you place and automatically update the scripts in ~/Library/Scripts/Word ? By the way, instead of using the Apple-supplied Scripts menu, pe...

Re: MS Word plugin – will it work with the new 2016 release?

So you can't update the scripts automatically when a user installs a new version of Bookends, right?

Bookends on Tap sync

Hi Jon,

Are there any plans to add sync capability beyond the LAN for Bookends <--> BOT, such as via Dropbox or the new iCloud services that will be offered in Yosemite / iOS 8?

Question about Cocoa

I know that this is probably of no practical import, but is Bookends Cocoa still using RealBASIC in some way? Inside the Bookends bundle, I see these libraries: V4RB.rbx_0.dylib RBAddressBook.rbx_0.dylib RBAppearancePak.rbx_0.dylib RBCrypto.rbx_0.dylib rbframework.dylib RBGUIKit.rbx_0.dylib RBHTMLVi...

Re: Cloud syncing?

First, that's for document-based applications (Bookends is a database). And even if we considered a database a "document", you merge them. Bookends sync is granular and syncs individual references. That means if you edit one reference at home and another at work, when you sync you'll get ...

Have you considered implementing your own server-based solution? I realize that that might be impractical.

Re: Cloud syncing?

The problem with wifi syncing in my view is that it has to be done manually (so I have to remember to do it every time), and both BE and BOT have to be open at the same time. The advantage of a cloud-syncing service would be that the sync would happen in the background or upon opening the applicati...

Re: Cloud syncing?

Do you sync BOT with Bookends? If so, what's the problem with Bonjour sync between BOT and Bookends? Also, it's configurable (e.g. sync only some groups, ignore pdfs over a certain size, etc.), which an iCloud sync would not be. As for iCloud, remember that you can only sync Mac apps bought through...
