Andy
As someone who keeps thinking about getting into genealogy, did you post your formats and citation types (reference types, I think) anywhere? Others might want to use or build on them.
Thanks
Alan

-1407 error on trying to restore from Time Machine
Hi I get a -1407 error when I try to to restore my Bookends database from Time Machine. I thought I should just document the problem here, and give two solutions if anyone else runs into this problem. I doubt that any of these issues are Bookends bugs, and perhaps the issue is unique to my machine (...

Re: Restore from backup -- How?
And, for what it is worth, this is a process that takes minutes, not the hours I feared. Thanks for that, Jon.

Re: Restore from backup -- How?
So, I am figuring this out, but let me be clear for the next person who runs into this problem. Jon, could you look this over to make sure I haven't left anything out. You have to open Bookends and create a new database. (This is because the cloud sync icon is only available when you have a database...

Restore from backup -- How?
Hi I ended up deleting hundreds of entries from my Bookends database--the most important ones! So, I restored from backups and I see that as soon as Bookends connects, it immediately deletes the references again! When I open the restored database I see this Screen Shot 2019-03-07 at 14.17.15.png and...

Strange and scary behavior for delete key
I can't replicate this yet, but I was cleaning up some collections in my Bookends database, and after I deleted a bunch of references from various static collections, suddenly the warning message switched from "Remove N references from group 'Group Name'?" to "Permanently delete N ref...

Re: The era of "cloud reference managers"?
A couple of thoughts if you go down Jon's suggested route: Set up an administrative account on your mac with your normal iCloud login -- that way you can easily keep software up to date. You can't even download free stuff from the Apple store without a credit card. It'd probably be a little bit of a...

"Title" field in reference format for edited book
I have a very simple format that I use for renaming attachments for edited books: {a^e$, Ed++.$^$Anonymous$} (d) t But I can't make the title field ("t") do what I want. If the book is part of a series, and I have a volume number, then the title comes out as Series Volume Title , when all ...

Re: Deleting some items in a collection actually deletes all of them
I just sent you an email with the details. But to clear things up on the forum, the problem is not what I described here. It seems that clicking on the "Circle-X" in the filter does not immediately clear the filter under some circumstances, but this is just a (rare?) display error, not an ...

[Edited:] Deleting some items in a collection appears to delete all of them
[See note at end, this is an incorrect description of a bug] I am trying to find all items in a collection that do not meet a certain criterion, and it isn't working. This appears to be a general bug in static collections: if you filter a collection by a criterion, select all, delete those items, yo...

Re: Weird tiny bug on renamed catalog
I don't think that there is any reason for a program to ask me to create a new document when I am opening an existing document. But that's just me, and, obviously, this is a tiny issue.
Hope 2019 is great for you and sonnysoftware.

Weird tiny bug on renamed catalog
I renamed my catalog in the Finder, and upon double-clicking it, Bookends asked me if I wanted to create a new library. Some small setting is awry and Bookends was acting like I was opening it without a document. Upon the second open of the renamed library, the dialog didn't appear.

Re: Odd changes of focus when editing fields
Very odd--I was having this problem and the problem that right clicking on a collection and choosing "Delete…" would try to delete the first reference in that collection.
Deleting the app (which was the latest version) and downloading 13.1.5 again solved both problems.
Thanks Jon
