I'll add that to the requested features list.
FYI, you can set up smart searches to ignore indexes, too, and search for "characters", which includes punctuation. Not to mention SQL smart searches.

Re: More than one computer (a user has no need for this)
I wish you'd start another thread about your questions, they deal with very different issues. I disagree Bookends cloud sync is unreliable. PDF sync (which is independent of Bookends) can have some latency issues due to Apple. If you find that the data sync is problematic please create a new thread ...

Re: Remove attachments from batch
Bookends doesn't index anything. I don't know what you mean by "importing to DevonThink" means -- exporting? Whatever, DT had scripts that query Bookends for reference information, which Bookends provides. These scripts are written by DT and initiated by the app. You don't need a URL refer...

Re: Allow right click (to copy citations) when Bookends in background
To your second point -- The live search uses indexes, so punctuation like # is ignored. If you enter the term in between quote marks, however, the search will not use indexes and will match whatever is in between the quote marks. The search begins when the closing quote mark is entered. So "#no...

Re: More than one computer (a user has no need for this)
The single user restriction that you can't use Bookends on two different computers at once is an anti-piracy measure. I hope you understand. I think you misunderstand how this situation is handled. If Bookends is running on one Mac and you launch it on another, you will be given the option to tell B...

Re: Remove attachments from batch
If the Bookends can't find the PDF (which I think is the case here), the attachment is "orphaned". You can remove orphaned attachments in batch using Global Change -> Remove Orphaned Attachments.

Re: Allow right click (to copy citations) when Bookends in background
I'll think about this and how it might be approached. But for now, I suggest that you check out Floating Citations (see User Guide for details, or our video tutorial). It's designed for working with Bookends without leaving the app in front (typically a word processor). While in another app, double ...

Good, so its down to one issue. Please contact tech support directly and send your tiny example library and your format. And tell me which word processor you are using.

Re: Strangeness in metatypes
1. Metatypes work in both citations and bibliographies. They have to be set independently in the Bibliography and Citation Options tabs. 2. Bookends doesn't try to resolve parent/child relationships in the Format Manager examples. It shows you what you would see if the reference it uses as an exampl...

Re: Bookends 14.1.7: Citekeys
I'm not sure why this thread is being revisited. Bookends already excludes accents when it generates citekeys. AFAICT the "opt in" comment refers to generating file names for attachments, in which case the default is to use Unicode. The only reason ASCII-only option was added later is that...

Re: Creation of a bibliography not at the end of the document
It could be done but would be unreliable in Word due to the way extraneous information can be inserted into text, internally. It also wouldn't work with all word processors. The current mechanism is infallible and works with all word processors (Mellel handles it in its own way).

Re: Creation of a bibliography not at the end of the document
Yes. Cut and paste it where you want. When you rescan, Bookends will insert the bibliography where you moved it. Note that if you unscan, the marker indicating the bibliography's location will be removed, and after a subsequent scan it will be placed at the end once again.

Re: EndNote XML Import and absolute vs. relative paths
Bookends doesn't use path names, it stores the folders containing the PDFs and then searches those when the PDF is needed. When you import the XML file Bookends will add the path of the folder (a so-called ad hoc folder, which you can see in Settings). If the PDF-containing folder isn't on the HD, t...

Re: Bookends can't find attachment - but it exists with a slightly different filename. Automatic fix?
Thank you very much for posting this. I'm sure others will benefit from it, too. I wonder if you'd be willing to post this to the AppleScript section of the forum? That's where people looking for such solutions would naturally go, and since there is less traffic it won't be lost among many other thr...

Re: No Journal Glossary update for BibTex files
In addition to what I told you, only references that were modified since the last "sync" are updated. Changing the glossary doesn't modify any references. You'd have to remove the old .bib file and recreate it.
