Moving field content
When I first imported all my references to BE, the contents of a book's series title went into a different field. Is it possible to use Global Change to swap content between fields within a single reference?

Re: New integration with DEVONthink Pro
Good news for our DEVONthink Pro users. The new 2.4 release has several features specifically designed for Bookends users. Here's a quote from their press release: "Integration with other applications has always been a key focus of our software. We have worked with the developer of Bookends to...

Re: Formatted View Footnote
I understand that the feature would not be convenient for a wide number of users. What I do on a daily basis is check whether the abbreviations for my Journal Glossary are displayed right in the Formatted pane. SBL style uses series and journal abbreviations for EVERY reference. So I enabled SBL Foo...

Re: Page punctuation
With "@\:\" I was able to override the format settings. Thank you for your patience, Jon. Even after reading the format part on the manual I still struggle sometimes with issues. This is a powerful program, and the formatting is not for the faint of heart.

Re: Page punctuation
Ok, I am putting the most frequent punctuation in Citation Options-Common Settings. Next I am trying to work with the exceptions.

Re: Page punctuation
I think I can pinpoint the problem now. The page "@58" I described above within a temp citation has no symbol for me to work with in the format. The page is arbitrary, so any comma plus space needs to be entered within the temp citation itself. This would look like this: "@, 58"....

Page punctuation
Due to lack of more examples in the manual, I am still in need of help with page punctuation. I need a format string that can address these two variables: (year), 58 = if page is present in temp citation (@58), then BE must add comma plus space. (year) = if page is not present in temp citation, then...

Re: Formatted View Footnote
This would be useful when one needs to check many footnotes in a large file, a thesis for example. The purpose of opening the Format window is to adjust wrong footnotes, not for constant monitoring/checking.

Re: Formatted View Footnote
Yes, that can be done. But it seems to me that the feature is too important to be left out of BE.

Formatted View Footnote
Formatted pane under View shows bibliography format, how to switch to footnote instead? That would provide a way to check footnotes without going to Biblio, Formats Manager each time. Thanks--

Re: Embedded Citation
Thanks for the response. You show the conventional method that inserts a citation into the text, which is what I have been doing. But embedding a citation with parenthesis and brackets is sometimes necessary in order to keep it separate from the flow of the text. I was wondering if I could manually ...

Embedded Citation
My question is how to use embedded citation in a footnote, a common practice in the Humanities. The footnote example follows: _____________ 1. TextTextText. Author so and so ("Article Name," Journal volume [year]: 352, 363) comments that "TextTextText." As you can see, parenthesi...

Re: Manual and Automatic Cited Pages
You mean total pages, not "total cited pages", right? In the format, put p or p- where you want the pages to go. If you use @ in the temp citation for specific cited pages, the total pages (or page range in the latter case) will be supressed. Jon Sonny Software Yes, exactly, I meant "...

Manual and Automatic Cited Pages
I created a specific journal type in which I input the cited page(s) and the punctuation manually (required by SBL style) and that serves me well. The question is: how to have BE automatically output total cited pages when I do not input any page? I would appreciate tips on how to tweak Format Manag...
