Re: Bookends for artworks
From what you say it ought to be easy enough to teach bookends to produce captions for those different requirements. Yes, that's correct. You would have to create two formats, one for each guideline, if you want to be able to quickly switch between the two, depending on which guideline you must com...

Re: Bookends for artworks
looking for a way to manage artworks and captions. An interesting question. I'm not an art historian, so in order to answer your question reliably I need to know exactly what you want to do. I guess an art historian would like to write down the name of the painter and the picture, the size, whether...

Re: Proper way to input and export “Introduction by …”
Not quite sure what you mean. If you have Aristotle as author, Poetics as title …, are you then asking where and how to enter "Introduction by John Doe"? If so, then there is no "proper" way to do that. It all depends on your reference style and your taste, i.e. where and how you...

How to change Citation delimiters?
I have just noticed that the dropdown menu for Citation delimiters is empty by me; it looks as if it is locked and cannot be changed. Is this normal? I would have expected to see {} here because {} are the delimiters that appear in my word processor when I cite a reference. I use "Content"...

Re: Footnotes to Citations
I made a test with some old documents and converted footnote references to inline citations. You don't even have to re-scan the document because the macro takes every footnote and inserts it as an inline citation. If that is what you want, then finish by running this macro:

Re: Footnotes to Citations
They now no longer want footnotes, but citations. So, I have to convert 769 footnotes to citations. Yes, this can be done in Nisus Writer Pro. :–) 1. Generally speaking, when you scan a Nisus document you should always have the option "Retain hidden citations" in Bookends enabled. If you ...

Colorful Groups and folders in v14.0.9
Just want to express my gratitude to Jon. I downloaded v14.0.9 today and I see that Groups and folders can now be assigned a color. GREAT! The right-click contextual menu for references in static group now reads "Remove From Group" instead of "Delete". This is also an important i...

Re: Feature Request- Lock option for static groups
the ability to lock certain static groups after I have finished curating/editing them. This would prevent any additional entries from being added to the lock group (in case I accidentally drag and drop into the wrong group by mistake) […] Jon wrote: I'll add it to the requested features list. Colors for better navigation
I have two feature requests. Would it be possible to add a feature to color folders and groups? I think that would be a huge leap forward and would make the navigation much easier. The following screenshot from Scrivener shows the idea: 1.png Would it also be possible to color the background of the ...

Re: Much time needed to open groups
In any case, you don't need to transfer to a new library -- that's what Rebuild does. Rebuild failed twice. Not all references were transferred when I tried to rebuild, so I had to transfer by creating a new empty library. Not bad after all, because as I added the groups, one by one, I had the oppo...

Re: Much time needed to open groups
Alley is a co-author on the 3 papers in question, Ahh I see, that explains everything. :–) Don‘t look for Confucius, that was just an ad hoc example I chose because most of my groups are not in English. Click instead on the folder FACHGEBIETE . Opening that folder takes unusually long time. Thank y...

Re: Much time needed to open groups
Those are not default groups, so I'm not sure what you mean (Term Lists)? Yes sorry, you are absolutely right, these are Term Lists. I guess I'll be using the Term Lists now much more than I used to do in the past. Talking about Term Lists, could it be that the image on p. 96 in the User Guide (v14...

Re: Much time needed to open groups
I assume Asia and China are folder, not groups. China and all the subgroups are smart folders or smart groups. I thought it was useful to have a one-click option to see all Chinese related stuff in the library. Repairing and rebuilding the library did not solve the problem, so I decided to create a...
