Re: How to migrate from Papers3 to Bookends

Hi Ben, thanks for the kind words, and for reporting the script's issue with missing PDFs. I've uploaded an updated script version which fixes this issue. I.e., the script now ignores any missing PDFs (it just logs their papers to Console.app) and imports only their publication metadata. Btw, you ca...

Re: How to migrate from Papers3 to Bookends

I've written a "Papers To Bookends" export script that should enable Bookends to honor the annotations in the PDFs exported by Papers. For more info, please see the script's Readme file and follow the steps in the "Known Issues" section: https://github.com/extracts/mac-scripting/...

Re: Papers to Bookends export script

Hi Juha, Yes it works now! Thanks so much for your help on this. That's great to hear! one feature that would be useful to have is the exportation of Papers 3 annotations to the Bookends. If you follow the steps given in the script's ReadMe , the script should already be able to transfer the annotat...

Re: Papers to Bookends export script

Hi Juha, I tried the Script Debugger, and did the procedure you described, and result is that it gives failure in line 278: set language to KeypointsLib's regexMatch(pubJSON, "(?<=" & linefeed & " \"language\": \").+(?=\")") Error message is identical ...

Re: Papers to Bookends export script

Hi Juha, Thank you for the effort, but I still get the same error with any document I try to export. Sorry to hear that. So it seems that there's more issues involved. The error that I was receiving was also different compared to yours. I got this error (on a German system): „Papers“ hat einen Fehle...

Re: Papers to Bookends export script

Hi Juha, I still can not get the script working though. Matthias, I have sent some documents to your email as you requested. Thanks, I've received your sample records via email, that's very helpful! With two of your three sample records (Perrin:2012vn & Dunford:2013cd) I also get a -10000 error ...

Re: Papers to Bookends export script

Hi Juha, thanks for the additional info! Since the error is about a range that can't be created, I _think_ that the issue lies with the script, esp. with one of the methods which use a regex pattern. Thus it would still be helpful if you could select a few of your records in your Papers library, exp...

Re: Papers to Bookends export script

Hi Juha, sorry to hear you're facing trouble! It's hard to say where exactly the script fails, but I think that the issue depends on the particular records you've selected in your Papers library. In other words, does this issue also happen if you select some different records in your Papers library?...

Papers to Bookends export script

Hi everyone, I've written a "Papers to Bookends" script which exports all publications selected in your Papers 3 library to Bookends: https://github.com/extracts/mac-scripting/tree/master/Papers3/Papers_To_Bookends The script will also transfer the publication's primary PDF (if there's any...

As for doi's, there is a "look up reference by doi" (that is if you have the doi). I imagine you're asking for the other direction. The CrossRef OpenURL resolver does now allow to fetch all basic metadata (i.e. those that are usually required to cite a journal article) including the DOI. ...

no, that does not work (blank page: import_modify.php). Only when I outcomment it works correctly. In PHP, the comma after an array item (in this case, the tag mapping) can be omitted if it's the last item in an array, but all other array items must be separated by a comma. Please make sure that th...

no, it does not. does this have anything to do with the modifications I did in import.inc.php in the RIS TO REFBASE section (see previous posting). I have outcommented the "ID" => "call_number"? If you uncomment again the "ID" => "call_number" mapping (in fun...

Hi Gert, Bookends uploads records to refbase in Endnote XML format. refbase then uses Bibutils to transform this into RIS which it can import natively. The contents of the 'label' tag in Endnote XML will be copied to the refbase 'call_number' field. OMM, Bookends exports contents of the 'User1' (Key...

Hi Gert and Jon, I posted a response in the refbase forums . IIRC, Bookends sends records in Endnote XML format to refbase, so the problem with import of RIS records is probably a separate issue. If you're going to use the "Upload to refbase" feature of Bookends with your own refbase insta...
