Re: "Scan document" Add-in for Word not working

I hit this yesterday and have been following up with Jon and the usual excellent support. Reinstalling Word made no difference. Downgrading Bookends didn't either. So I suspect it is Word. Are you getting it through O365 also? They updated in the week. I am "glad" it is someone else who su...

Re: Feature Request: Project Tagging

Thank you for suggesting a feature application I hadn't considered or acknowledged earlier. Perfect!

Feature Request: Project Tagging

In some situations, I only need references on a temporary basis and don't want them cluttering up the system. It can be that I do not fill in the extended information and just use Bookends as a transient "bare bones" reference manager, whereas my larger database is cleaner, tagged, keyword...

Re: Is there a way to mark a paper as "read"?

Ah, ok! Your request would be good as an "off/on" field (or status : to read, being read : read) for sure. Just thinking as an interim!

Re: Is there a way to mark a paper as "read"?

Would the colour coding satisfy that goal? I don't know if all imports could be automatically told to be, for example, yellow, so when you've read it fully you make it white. Not in a position to immediate check, since I should be writing and not reading email and forums :.)

Re: Fire off a footnote

OK will do that. Strikethrough also did not work so have had to bold/underline to try and make it stand out.

Re: Fire off a footnote

Wow.. had not thought that this would be possible (I guess as the colour window was hidden by default). Yet the "key" thing of flagging it up in the finished work is still not showing up. In Word at least. Is there a setting in word? See https://i.imgur.com/NYIFIyi.png (ignore the sentence...

Re: Fire off a footnote

OK thanks. No scope now (or in the future) to have an alert in the actual generated reference too (whether the footnote or doing something "odd" such as making the troublesome reference bold or a different colour in the generated output so it stands out when reviewed?)

Re: Fire off a footnote

If I had a reference titled "Using Bokends for success" that I needed to use, obviously it has a spelling error. APA says, however, to NOT correct it in the actual reference, but add a footnote to say the error exists in the reference list. What I would like to achieve is the way to automa...

Calibre

(Jon suggested I post this here) Is there cope to add the means to import a (book) reference from data held in a (local) Calibre (e-book) database? I am guessing/hoping it could be easy for those "who know" to make a simple script that may take the highlighted book in Calibre and copy over...

Fire off a footnote

Other than making a paper note and remembering to do it at the end when generating the references, is there a way to somehow instruct Bookends to fire a footnote at the relevant time? So you may pre-enter the desired footnote within Bookends in readiness, e.g. to correct an error in a reference, so ...

Re: A couple of usability suggestions

I will chime in and just add that if/when you change anything, please bear in mind some of us have poor eyesight/visual handicaps and not all cutesy icons and colour schemes as deployed by some developers in the name of change are necessarily helpful for us :) On that level, I am glad that you've re...

Re: Publisher consistency

Thanks. Yes the retype reference was if I wanted to avoid cleaning up the list later on, but good to be reminded there is a "bulk" cleaning option.
