Rick, These are all good ideas. A few have been implemented already. For example, there is a tutorial that comes with Bookends, which should provide enough to get the novice up and running. The Read Me also is a mini-FAQ (but far from complete). I have thought of providing a stand-alone FAQ, which I...

Re: User1 and Key field clash ?
I have BibTex enabled and have discovered recently what a wonderful thing that is. But I'm wondering what to do about web references in formats such as APA 5th, which use user1 for the date of retrieval. If I generate BibTex keys from the Refs menu, will this delete the retrieval information alread...

Hi Madwen, Bookends doesn't use a real date field because many (most?) folks import reference information, and there is just not enough consistency to allow for unambiguous resolutions of dates (it's a mess). If you don't care about sorting by date, just enter the date as you like. If you want to so...

Use the menu option Edit -> Paste Without Styles (AKA Option-Command-V) I tried this, but couldn't get it to work as I imagine it should. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Rick Hi Rick, All I can imagine is that perhaps the style of the 0'th character in the Title field you pasted into was set to bol...

Hi Madwen, I am editing a previous post I made, now that I've done a bit of research. According to the APA Newspaper Article format, the section belongs with the page. I copied this information and example for an unsigned newspaper article from this web site: http://www.miracosta.edu/home/jmegill/Sa...

Rick, Bookends can output the data in almost any form you would care to imagine. In this case, you are using the Printout format, if I'm not mistaken. Instead, use the BibTeX format to output the references. Make sure BibTeX is enabled in the Format Window, and select it from the popup menu when you...

Rick, I tried this URL http://www.istitutocolli.org/uniwakka/BiblioCitation I exported as BibTeX, and in my case (Safari) the references were sent to the screen. I copied some references to the clipboard, switched to Bookends, and Imported References *from the clipboard* using the BibTeX filter. It ...

Hi Rick, You can use either form (i.e. one with a space between the volume and the issue or not). Bookends will delete the space after the volume number if you choose to output it alone. Note that if a format tells Bookends to include the issue number with the volume, it will output exactly what you...

That's odd (rebuilding usually works). OK, it's also possible the Bookends Preferences file is damaged. Please remove it and relaunch Bookends (you'll need your serial number handy). What happens if you try to import into a freshly created database? If none of these solutions work, please send your ...
