Please help me with my workflow: Hits list
Hello all, Some suggestions would be appreciated, as I'm fairly sure I'm missing something useful. I pulled existing Word documents (created prior to my days using BE, or any other reference manager) into Scrivener, and am now in the process of working through these, replacing the manually-typed-out...

Re: Searching inside PDFs - single use, not Library-wide?
Thanks. The ability to search all attached pdfs has been there for years (the pdfs must be in the default attachments folder, or a subfolder). Use either Find -> Spotlight, or the Live Search -> Spotlight options. Jon Sonny Software Thanks Jon, The Spotlight search does indeed identify pdf's that h...

Searching inside PDFs - single use, not Library-wide?
Hi Jon, Congrats with the 12.2 update - it's a biggie! Had a twirl through some of the features, PDF annotation is great, and I could see how the PDF notes <> Note Stream link, can be very useful! A very welcome addition is the Search Inside PDF's. It appears to work well. Having said that -- please...

Re: Watch folder problems & feature request
Are you sure it's watching the old folder? How do you know? What happens when you configure a fresh new database to watch the new folder? Jon Sonny Software Hi Jon - please see the attached pic of the message that pops up. As mentioned - it keeps on looking in the folder I had set up initially, des...

Re: Watch folder problems & feature request
Apologies for jumping in here - but not sure this warrants a new thread. I'm having problems getting the Watch Folder to work properly - it appears to keep on reverting back to wanting to 'watch' a folder I had initially tested the process on. I have created a new folder, and configured BE to 'watch...

Re: Help with Page Numbers
That shouldn't be, and I can't reproduce it. We may be talking about different things. Please contact tech support and attack the format you are using, your database (zipped), and a document with a single citation. I'll scan it here. Jon Sonny Software Thanks for the offer Jon. But thankfully no mo...

Re: Help with Page Numbers
Realize that if you use cited pages, any reference to the page(s) (that is, "p") in the reference will be ignored. If you need both, don't use cited pages, use quoted text: {temp cite\ 45\} Jon Sonny Software Jon - just had a thought about this - and am now curious. I don't have that happ...

Re: Help with Page Numbers
If you are using cited pages in the citation, why do you have a "p" in the format at all? If you have cited pages, the pages field will be ignored. As far as I can see, your citation format should be a "t" (d) v u4[NO space) and you'd cite with {temp cite@12-15} In the format, y...

Help with Page Numbers
Hello all, Would appreciate some tips on the following: In my Formats manager, for CITATION First Occurrence, I leave a [space] after the "p" field - as in: a "t" (d) v u4 p[space] I do the same in the Subsequent Occurrence, as follows: a (d) u4[space] This works perfectly, since...

Re: How to search attachments ONLY
First, you can have attachments outside of the default attachments folder and Bookends will display them. The fact that they aren't showing in Bookends means that Bookends can't find them, probably because the folder they were in was renamed (although it can be something else). Reattach one (and le...

How to search attachments ONLY
Hello all, A quick question about if I'm missing something obvious. Due to particular choices I took regarding how I store/manage data on my laptop - I never 'imported' my PDFs into the BE Attachment folder. I accordingly have thousands of "blank" references, with attachments linked, but n...

Re: Watch Folder functionality | feature request
Thanks Jon. That's a pity - but given your explanation, I understand why.Jon wrote:No, that's not possible. If it's left behind, Bookends will keep trying to copy it every time it inspects the watch folder and finds the pdf there.

Watch Folder functionality | feature request
Hello All | Jon, Query: When I have configured a Watch Folder in BE12 - is there any way to turn-off the following feature: "The file will be moved to the default attachments folder and renamed according to the specifications in preferences." In other words - can it rather be set-up to &qu...

Re: Zoom in on "Edit Reference"
The default reference display font size has no influence on the formatted reference. That's controlled by the default bibliography font size. Therefore, use whatever font size you prefer for editing and whatever size you prefer for bibliographies independently. Jon Sonny Software Ah - good to know!...
