Re: In Proceedings vs Conference Proceedings
Thanks. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but there are three parts to this: inbound mapping, internal type, outbound mapping. The first and last are internal to the per-format filter, as you fairly point out. Whether a web reference is 'url' in one format and 'internet' in another is done by the filters....

Re: Bibtex export, problem with LaTex control chars
Might it therefore be possible for sort in the main window list to ignore { and } when storing. Otherwise brace enclosed authors sort out of sequence. Thanks.

Re: In Proceedings vs Conference Proceedings
I used File -> Import Filter Manager. I then selected 'BibTeX.fltr. I then clicked the "Define import Types" button In that dialog, I then selected and cut 'Inproceedings' from the right column for the 'Conference proceedings' list item. I then pasted the cut string into the right column ...

Re: Bibtex export, problem with LaTex control chars
Yes, but if the name already includes a comma e.g. the first example in my last reply, adding an extra comma at the end doesn't help as Biber then sees the original inline comma and 'parses' the name. The manual post edit is from this author = {Cunningham & Cunningham, Inc.}, to this: author = {...

Re: Bibtex export, problem with LaTex control chars
Thanks. However, the author string "Cunningham & Cunningham, Inc." and the author string "Cunningham & Cunningham, Inc.," generate the same Bibtex output line: author = {Cunningham & Cunningham, Inc.}, By comparison, "Microsoft Corporation," does modify the ...

Re: In Proceedings vs Conference Proceedings
Mea culpa. I figured I had to be overlooking such a feature. Type changes now done. Many thanks.

In Proceedings vs Conference Proceedings
BE doesn't have an 'In Proceedings' type so imported Bibtex of the '@inproceedings' type (e.g. most ACM DL papers) ends up in the wrong type as 'Conference Proceedings' are exported to bibtex as type '@proceedings' rather than '@inproceedings' leading to downstream formatting errors. I set up an 'In...

Bibtex export, problem with LaTex control chars
I'm exporting from BE 13.1.4 to Bibtex format and am hitting several issues when using that data with pdflatex & biber in the 2018 MacTex distro. After much to-and-fro the problem appears to be linked to unescaped ampersands (and possible also percent signs) in BE's output Bibtex. I've been back...

Bibtext export, smart quotes error
My prefs under 'scan & bib' are set to use 'English' Smart Quotes. I have a reference with this title: "Could You Define That in Bot Terms"?: Requesting, Creating and Using Bots on Reddit But on export, via whatever means, to Bibtex format I get: ... title = {”Could You Define That in ...

Re: v13 - styled refernces showing inline LaTeX mark-up
Ah, I see the cause now. I tend to chop between formats and had indeed last exported (from this Mac) using BibTex.
Thanks
Mark

v13 - styled refernces showing inline LaTeX mark-up
Hi, Using the IEE format, I see styled reference examples like: I. C. Brown\textit{ et al.}, ``Towards a Taxonomy for Web Observatories,'' \textit{WWW `14 Companion}, vol. Proceedings of the 23rd International Conference on World Wide Web, pp. 1067-1072, 2014 Which should be: I. C. Brown et al. , “T...

Re: Biblio from Hits list - wrong sort order
Belated thanks. I'd tried sorting the hits using the main listing's column heads, which seemed to work on screen but next time I'll use the menu option as instructed. Understood re the (alphabetised) sorting deriving from the format. I hadn't realised that the format doesn't specify such a sort. Man...

Biblio from Hits list - wrong sort order
BE v12.8.4, OS 10.12.6 I exported my hits list to to a bibliography window. However, I notice that whilst the general format of individual items is as expected (IEEE), the order of the items is incorrect and seemingly random. From investigation the list seems to be exporting using the order the item...

Re: Mark all current group as hits
@jon, thanks. For later readers, as at v12.7.8, the menu method is: Refs -> Mark -> Mark All References. The shortcut for the latter is [Cmd]+[Opt]+[Shift]+A, noting that its not a toggle. The shortcut only ticks all items in the current view. The Shift+click method is a toggle. Shift+click on any t...
