Re: Generating an author index
I would say the poster in the DevonEVONt forum doesn't fully understand your problem. I am the other poster from the DEVONthink forum, and I must say, you are right, Dellu. :–) I misread what Lyndon wrote and thought he wanted a list of all the authors he had cited. Sorry about that. Mea culpa! As ...

—PART TWO— 4. In the Formatting Manager enter this: 3.png Between the two fields is a tab. 5. Leave all fields in the Citation Options empty.
6. Make sure you choose the right Type: "Abbreviation" for normal abbreviations, and "Abbreviation italic" for those abbreviations you wa...

Re: Generating an abbreviations table
I'm also trying to generate an abbreviations table for the front matter of the book or journal article. It was suggested to me on the DEVONThink forum that this could be done in Bookends This is what I had in mind when I said it's possible to do this in Bookends. You need to create two new types an...

Re: Changing the names of the Chicago Style formats
I deliberately suggested to rename it to "Chicago 17th (Footnotes or Endnotes)" because that format is for *both* footnotes and endnotes. Whether the user inserts a footnote or endnote doesn't matter, the result from Bookends remains the same.

Changing the names of the Chicago Style formats
Dear Jon, Bookends comes with two formats of the Chicago Style: "Chicago 17th A.fmt" and "Chicago 17th B.fmt" If I don't use them for a while, I always forget which is which. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has difficulty remembering what A and B stand for. Therefore I suggest ...

Re: Editing bibliography to something non-standard
My problem is that when Bookends creates an RTF file containing a bibliography, the bibliography appears as a field that I cannot edit using, for example, a Sort command. This seems to be a misunderstanding. The bibliography in Nisus Writer Pro is just text that you can treat like any other text in...

Re: Smart Folder based on absence of keyword
Hello GJPhD, I am signing off for the X-mas break This caught my attention. Why are you signing off ?????? As far as I understand, this just brings you unnecessary trouble. You then have to sign in again (that is, entering a password or an email address again.) Why would anyone want to do that ??? J...

Re: Exporting notes
The request to keep styles when Option-dragging notecards has been implemented for the next update. That's good news. Thank you. Then we would have covered all variants. No need to change how copy notecard(s) are implemented. Now this will just copy the styled text, which is a legitimate operation ...

Re: Exporting notes
As for the # and %, no. They have no meaning outside of Bookends The purpose of the operation we are talking about here is to get the notecards into another application. # and % are of vital importance here because they show the user where a header, that is, where a new notecard begins. Once I have...

Re: Exporting notes
I want to get all notecards of a note stream into a word processor document for easy editing, the ability to add images and drawings (mind mapping) to the notecards, and storing (for example in DEVONthink). On p. 110 in the User Guide we read: "You can also drag and drop notecards into your wor...

Re: Exporting notes
I know that one can select all notes, copy them and paste in other app. But in this case all of them are copied as a single array. So you want each note as single file. Is that what you want? You talk about "a single array". Hmm, each note (in the note steam) is separated from other notes...

Hidden citations
On page 252 in the User Guide we read:
"Note that hidden citations are only recognized and saved by Microsoft Word." I wonder if this information is outdated.
Nisus Writer Pro seems to be able to do this too.

Re: Problem alphabetizing with Editors
I don't think the name substitution works when the references are of different types (e.g. journal article vs edited book). I think they need to be of the same type. If that's something people want I could look into adding it. Yes, my all means, please look into it. I think this is really a very im...
