Cursor 'jumps out' of quick search

Hi, I have noticed lately that every time I try to do a search in the 'quick search' field (opt-cmd F), the cursor jumps out of the field after I have started typing my query. When I then click in the field to continue my search, every time I write a single letter, the cursor will once again move fo...

Can't search for words containing '-'

Hi, I need to be able to search for a lot of genes in my BE database and many of these genes contain '-' (e.g. NF-kB, c-Rel). The problem is that when I try to search for these, BE appears to ignore the '-' character and inserts a space instead. For example if I try to search for 'c-Rel' I get resul...

Re: ipad

I would luuuuuve to have a fully integrated Bookends on the iPad - in fact, this may convince me that I need to buy one in the first place. Basically what I would be looking for would be a great way to read and organise my papers, rather than to have all the other powerful features of Bookends that ...

Re: BE fails to open in Snow Leopard

I just started getting failed launches as well, but was not very keen to delete my preference files. I found that changing the following worked (I guess this disabled Sparkle??). In ~/Library/Preferences find: com.sonnysoftware.bookends.plist and open it with e.g. Pref Setter, or any other plist edi...

Re: Bugs?

For some odd reason 2, 3 and 4 went away after a restart of my computer.... Nooooo idea why. If it comes back, I will contact you via support. As for 1, this still persists - even in new databases. I am thinking the problem could lie with the fact that I use Path Finder instead of the Finder? When i...

Bugs?

Hi, I found a things not working in the new version (10.5.3) on my computer: 1. When deleting a reference selecting 'move attachment to the trash' doesn't do anything - the attached pdfs still remain on the hard drive (which is a different partition than the one BE is one (although same physical dri...

Attachments - Widescreen View

Hi All, Jon suggested that I post this request to the forum: Just another of my feature suggestions - I was wondering whether you could incorporate a 'widescreen' view for attachments (and maybe refs, etc) in BE? I have been using DevonThink Pro the last couple of weeks and they have included this v...

B I G request - export multiple .pdf files

People in the lab just asked me if they could have a copy of all my papers on Lassa fever... Since I have everything in BE I could easily find all the correct references, but I had no way of sending/saving the attached .pdf files and give to them. Is it in any way possible to do this, or could you p...

Re: The things I liked about 'Papers'

I thought it would be nice if I could see the whole first page of the article - mostly because most journals would write the date of publication in the bottom of the first page. So it would be nice if the window could be resized downwards - the width of the window is just fine. I have emailed you wi...

Re: Collaborating with Endnote users

That's great thanks Jon - I'll try it out and see how it goes!

I'll be the one doing the scanning and unscanning though - as little EndNote action as possible!

Re: The things I liked about 'Papers'

Strike one ;). Yes, I think I have been using the 'match' function the wrong way - it is indeed very similar to the one seen in Papers. One thing though - would it be possible to resize the 'autocomplete' window so one could see more of the article at the same time? Also, I seem to have a bug - I so...

Collaborating with Endnote users

Hi, I am now working in a very collaborative environment with people using PeeCees (poor sods), but even worse - EndNote (oh dear!). Is there anyway that I can keep using Bookends when writing manuscripts together with these people, with them using EndNote? I would hate to lose my Mellel/Bookends co...

The things I liked about 'Papers'

Hi All, Just moved university and people suggested me to have a look at 'Papers' - they said it had improved a lot since it came out..... Oh well, I thought I would give it a try and compare it to my good old trustworthy and fully featured Bookends! Suffice to say, 'Papers' was quickly uninstalled a...
