Re: Adding to existing reference
Or is there a way of improving the matching, or turning it off? The manual tells me that "PDFs automatically imported from the watch folder will be attached to an existing reference if the DOI, JSTOR stable URL, or the arXiv ID matches." That wasn't the case with the match shown in the att...

Adding to existing reference
Might it be possible for Bookends to request confirmation before adding a pdf (that has been dropped into the Watch folder) to an existing reference? Yesterday two pdfs were added incorrectly, and it was hard to track down the problem because the references, being old, were not in the Watched group....

Re: v13.1.5 - focus error after reference edit
I am also seeing this behavior. I click in a field in the Edit Reference window, edit, then click on another field only to discover that the focus has shifted and the reference is highlighted in the main library window. I have not noticed this with versions of Bookends earlier than 13.1.5. I am runn...

Jon, can you clarify where in the Preferences panes one can change this option?

Re: Formatted Reference menu
No, when I set the format with Biblio > Default Format, it switches when I move the focus to another application then back to Bookends. Aha! I think the problem is linked to a format I created for Brain & Behavioral Sciences. The "&" seems to be problematic: it does not display in ...

Formatted Reference menu
Something strange is happening with the Formatted Reference menu in the Display Pane. When I switch to another application and back to Bookends, the selected format has changed, to the first format on the menu's list. If I re-select the original format in the Display Pane, the format selected in the...

Imported files attach incorrectly?
Using 12.8.1, I'm finding that adding a file to the watch folder sometimes attaches that file to an existing reference, sometimes causes a previously imported reference to disappear, and sometimes replaces an existing attachment. See attached screenshot for an example. Note that the second file in t...

Behavioral and Brain Sciences
Anyone have a Bookends bibliography format for the journal Behavioral and Brain Sciences ? Here are some examples of its style: Freeman, W. J. (1958) Distribution in time and space of prepyriform electrical activity. Journal of Neurophysiology 2:644-66. http://cogprints.soton.ac.uk/abs/neuro/1998060...

Re: Truncated text in Bibtext import
Makes sense; I suppose after 'white room' there is a close-double quotes that is treated as the end of the field.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Truncated text in Bibtext import
I am importing some references in bibtext format via the clipboard. The import appears to truncate text in the Abstract field. For example: Here is the bibtext on the clipboard, followed by the text in the Abstract field: @article {Cicourel:1996-01-01T00:00:00:0929-0907:221, author = "Cicourel,...

Re: Changing case in attachment title
Thanks, Jon. That just made my life a lot easier!
(Though the SQL query editor kept changing quotes into smart quotes, which caused an error.)

Changing case in attachment title
Suppose I import a PDF and the downloaded data has the author's name in capital letters. As I have things configured, the attachment will be titled with the name, in capital letters. If I then correct the name in the reference, and try to use this to change the title of the attachment -- for example...
