Re: Separate editing window
changes I'm considering […] 1. Place the following fields side-by-side (so they are half-width). Publisher - Location (Address) User1 - User2 User3 - User4 I think this would be an improvement. Also: please consider putting abstract and keywords side-by-side again. As someone has said in another th...

Re: Batch edit and text formatting removal
Thanks for these tips, Jon. I didn't know about the right-click method: it's very convenient. Restore Default Font and Style removes all styled text (you can also just remove the font info, leaving styles). I wonder whether it would be possible to add the option to remove font and size info, leaving...

For 1, what about:
Refs>Global change>Change Field...
"Put 'Anon' into field Authors for each reference in the selected references [or Hits List]"
I'd like to know how to do 2. Actually, I'd like a mode that permanently turns off all formatting in references except italics.

Re: Feature Request: drag-n-drop renaming in the term list
This sounds like a great idea.
This kind of smoothing of workflow seems like a good place to concentrate (rather than, say, the cosmetic changes suggested in another thread recently).

Re: Annotating pdfs/extracting highlights as quotes
I'm working on improved pdf functionality in Bookends. One feature would be to have Bookends automatically display pdf notes as notecards (virtual notecards, if you will, which will be colored differently from real notecards). As of now these will not included comments (also called Text or Free Tex...

Re: pdfs that crash BoT, pdfs that won't allow annotation
Thanks Jon and Serge for your replies. I've sent sample pdfs to you, Serge. The problem opening in iBooks does seem significant. I suppose these pdfs are probably slightly malformed, although in a way that Preview doesn't mind. I don't know to what extent you control the parsing and display of pdfs ...

Re: Feature request: contextualized search results
I hope I can say this without being too much of a pain, but it would be good if the next stage in Bookends' evolution would be to bring the searching and annotation of pdfs into the application. It seems that would open up a lot of very useful possibilities. Contextualised search as mentioned in thi...

Re: Does Spotlight search look in pdf annotations?
Thanks for this. I used to use Skim but if I am remembering right, its notes don't show up in Bookends on Tap, and that's why I went back to Preview.

pdfs that crash BoT, pdfs that won't allow annotation
Some pdfs that I have from one particular journal have problems in BoT: 1) selecting text brings up only Copy and Define as options, not the various annotation tools, so there's no way to add an annotation. 2) I had already added some annotations to that pdf in Preview on the Mac, but those do not s...

Re: Does Spotlight search look in pdf annotations?
I checked that, and the answer is that on both my Macs (on 10.8) the Finder Spotlight search also isn't finding words in annotations. But Spotlight seems to be a bit unreliable, hence the question about whether it is supposed to be finding them. Any thoughts about the pdf workflow (Jon or anyone)? I...

Does Spotlight search look in pdf annotations?
Actually, what I am asking is whether Spotlight search is supposed to look in annotations. I haven't had success searching on terms that I know are in annotations that I have made in pdfs that are attached to Bookends references. The annotations I was trying to search for are the kind that Preview m...

What about suggesting, on the Scrivener forum, a feature 'Switch to Bibliography manager and Find'? It would be very useful, for sure.

would others like the greater control I'm advocating? Yes, I would. How many other people have to fix style violations manually due to this (relatively minor, I admit) limitation? I would have had to in my thesis, but I turned off the ibid option in order to avoid having to do so. In other words, I...
