Re: Update on Bookends Cocoa
Oh the exitement! Jon, thanks a lot for investing into the plumbings. A double “Yay!” for infrastructure works!

Re: Help with Bookends+Mellel

Re: Mixing citation and bibliography references
I still think Jon’s original reply offers the solution for your problem: You can suppress the display of citations, so that they only appear in the bibliography, but not in-text or in footnotes. For me this works very nicely to include additional works that only appear in the bibliography (i.e. help...

Re: Formatted View Footnote
I can see Nhaps point – one of the reasons people haven’t requested this feature might be that the reworking of Bookends (so that foot-/endnote formats are rolled into the main format) isn’t that long ago. Of course we can check the correct formatting in the footnotes themselves, but for a long docu...
Re: congrats
Yes, I noticed that some time ago too. Also, it really seems to improve the import data – DOI numbers, for example, get imported much more reliably now, and do not need cleaning up after import. A big improvement!

Re: Vanishing search box cursor
Great news, as small things like the vanishing cursor have been affecting my use too (when one needs to clean up a dozen or so new imports, all extra time spent editing fields feels like a huge annoyance). I am also looking forward to get rid of a couple of more minor issues like strange highlightin...

Re: Inline Citations, page numbers
In that case you need to use Bookends’ great conditional formatting functionality. If you enter your format as follows: a. “t.” f v$, no. $i` ` { (d): p- ^ (d) } `.` then things should work as expected. The curly brackets are processed in order from one part ending with the ^ character to the next (...

That’s my impression for the humanities in Europe too…julesmim wrote:I can confirm that this metacharacter to suppress author and title would be useful to me. It is quite frequent in the styles used in Europe.

Re: Suggestion: Disabling "Autofill from Internet" replaceme
Yes, indeed – I have also largely refrained from using this function so far, because I very frequently need to manually edit the capitalization after import and don’t want to do this once more…

Re: Normalized Citation Formats
I would also recommend against entering references in title case by default, since this makes it impossible to use the proper capitalization when the publisher/journal requires standard case (i.e. small case for everything except names etc., or, for languages such as German, small case except for no...

Re: Citations without brackets
I can see the logic in that, so that’s fine with me. :) What do you think about moving the few options from "Common Settings" that are actually relevant for the Numbers and Author-Date formats to the first tab, so that the second tab will be completely deactivated (either greyed out or non...

Re: Citations without brackets
Ah, now I see what you mean: the number of authors cannot be changed in that format. I did not notice this the first time I answered your question. (I haven’t had the time to play with the new setup yet, so I am still unfamiliar with it.) I guess this would be a feature request to Jon then!

Re: Citations without brackets
You should be able to bring all of them back by changing the format so that "Enclose citations with ()" is activated rescanning your document with the format you corrected above selected That should be it! :) And to answer your second question: Could it be possible that you are using one o...
