Re: Zoom in on "Edit Reference"
No zoom. But why not increase the default font size (in preferences)? It's the size of the text that matters. Two other things: 1. Click on the field name to edit/enter in a large field with the font size automatically (temporarily) increased by 2 points. 2. Enable the OS accessibility features. Th...

Zoom in on "Edit Reference"
Hello All, I figured I would pop this query up - having searched "zoom" without finding something similar - just to check if I wasn't by chance missing something obvious. Clearly, the eyes aren't what they used to be. I am in the process of updating all my references, and where Auto...

The (not such a) Mystery of the Renamed Attachments
Hello All, I have been steadily getting to grips with BE12 over the past few weeks - and have come to realise that I have been 'guilty' of missing tiny details, that have had some (initially) unexplained effects on my library. I want to be clear that this was most certainly a case of "Problem I...

Re: Easiest way to edit multiple fields?
Please see the user guide about the various Global Change options. They all let you modify the selected refs, the hits, or the entire library. Jon Sonny Software [Facepalm] Thanks Jon - what's that they say about assumptions.... The "move field" and "clear source field thereaf...

Re: Easiest way to edit multiple fields?
Did you look at the Global Change options? Jon Sonny Software Hi Jon, I assumed the global change would affect the entire library - with one change? I.e. similar to a 'find & replace' on a macro-level? In my case - I only want to add specific entries for specific references? Would Global Change...

Easiest way to edit multiple fields?
Hello all, My library window currently shows Author/Date/Short Title (which I use for the abbreviated Journal-name field)/Journal. Given that I need to manually enter the "short title" - what I'm doing currently is sorting my library by Journal. I was hoping I could then effect an "iT...

Re: A different(?) question regarding Repeated Citations
Bookends shouldn't apply Ibid. if there is an intervening citation. You should contact tech support, with a document containing the two footnotes you mentioned (and no more) along with your format and database. Jon Sonny Software Thanks Jon. If that is the case - then it will be a settings-issue my...

A different(?) question regarding Repeated Citations
Hello All, Anyone know what exactly BE12 looks for, in order to be able to apply the "For Repeated Citations Use______" field? By this I mean, if I have the following references:- Fn 1) {Du Toit et al blah blah 213} Fn 2) {Du Toit et al blah blah 214} etc. In the above scenario, BE12 corre...

Re: Ability to edit "Use 'et al.'?
Hi, You're right you can't edit that. But I would question whomever made that citation requirement. "al" is an abbreviation of "alia", and as such the period is proper (Google for this if you want). And to mix the correct and incorrect forms in the same citation style would be b...

Ability to edit "Use 'et al.'?
Hello all, I'm a bit stuck - hoping there is a workaround that someone might know of. Unless I'm missing something obvious, which is also likely! My FIRST Occurrence field order in a Citation, sees all the authors being listed. The SUBSEQUENT occurrences, must display "et al" where ...

Re: More ability to control formatting for subsequent citati
You can have Bookends "replace repeated authors with" with any text you like. That's editable in the format. Jon Sonny Software Hi Jon - is it possible to have BE only insert a page number? The "Create Temporary Citation with Modifiers menu/Special handling of final citation" me...

Re: More ability to control formatting for subsequent citati
Hello all, I'm jumping on the bandwagon a bit late here - having only recently purchased Bookends - but I am facing something similar... I am not at all clear whether the approach I am requiring is common in citations formats in other parts of the world, but my particular style requires that where a...
