Re: Question about highlighting

I also agree that having the ability to highlight on the iPad and turn the highlights into Notecards, like on the Mac, would be ideal. It is one of the major reasons why I don’t use the iOS version of Bookends extensively.

Re: Export Note Cards

I just found this script and I think something changed in Bookends' code and a part of the syntax isn't working. I'm getting the following error and was wondering how to fix it as I'm very interested in using the script: I modified the script sometime ago to directly export an annotation summary in...

Re: Text formatted as white

I am still getting this problem. It seems to occur when the BibTeX preferences for 'indicate required fields by:' is switched to color. When this preference is switched off I have not been able to reproduce the behaviour. The bug also appears to not color the required BibTeX fields in affected refer...

Re: Problems with new Applescript dictionary and selecting references

I had verified the library and repaired it but not rebuilt it. Now that I have this has seemed to have solved the problem. Thanks

Problems with new Applescript dictionary and selecting references

I have been using the new Applescript dictionary but have occasionally come across some unusual behaviour. Every so often I have a reference that is selected and yet when I return the id of that reference a completely different id is returned. In the example below I can confirm that there is only on...

Re: Text formatted as white

I have applied the global change to all references in the library and that seems to have cleared up the issue for those references that had white text. The problem did seem to occur when adding new references so I will wait and see if the problem re-occurs.

Re: Text formatted as white

Doing a Global Change made no difference. Still references with some text in white

Text formatted as white

I am getting some strange behaviour in Bookends at the moment in which some text fields will be formatted as white, after I have entered the text. This makes the text appear to disappear and alters the formatted appearance of the citation in Bookend. The attachments show a field with text in it but ...

Re: Floating citations

One request that I have for floating citations is to enable it to work in full screen apps. Currently when an app is in full screen the floating citations dialog box will open overlaying Bookends. Otherwise this is a great feature. Thanks Jon.

Re: Creating BibTex bibliography

FYI: for title case preservation, I prefer a more specific solution (have a word list for preserve case and another for force case), and have a ruby script to handle this without protecting the whole title using {} That is a nice approach @iandol. The ruby script unfortunately fails for me when I h...

Re: Creating BibTex bibliography

I have modified my original script recently after I realised that a better way to generate a BibTex bibliography, with preservation of the case of the title entered in Bookends, was to simply create a modified BibTex format rather than going through the process of doing a sed regex. The bibliography...

Bookends, Pandoc and institutional authors

I am posting this in case someone else has had the same issue as me and wants a solution. I write in Markdown and use Pandoc http://pandoc.org to output Word/PDF documents. A Pandoc filter, called pandoc-citeproc https://github.com/jgm/pandoc-citeproc/blob/master/man/pandoc-citeproc.1.md , can scan ...

Re: [Feature Request] Write reference data into the PDF metadata(xml)

Here is a modified script that will do what you wish - will extract the Authors name(s) and title from the selected reference in Bookends and then set the metadata of the attached PDF. Note that you need to have Exiftool installed and in addition you need to create a unique format in the Bookends fo...
