Re: How do I use the Search Panel logic more effectively?
You can specify a Type in the find as well. I want to keep both sets of searches, the set with all documents and the set with only articles. Doesn't this suggestion mean that I have to duplicate my folder and/or duplicate each smart group? You might also consider using smart SQL searches in conjunc...

Possible Bug: Import from On-Line Did not Work
I created a library called "test". I imported a BibTeX file of 10 citations by drag+drop. I then did a drag+drop of 10 PDF files that were associated with the 10 citations. Unfortunately, I imported every reference file to attach to every citation. So all 10 citations each would end with 1...

Re: How do I use the Search Panel logic more effectively?
I am still struggling with how to build an efficient, dynamic search criteria. I will give a specific use case. I want to find all citations that contain this logic: ((PDF: Langmuir) OR (content: Langmuir)) AND ((PDF: "quantum dot") OR (content: "quantum dot") OR (PDF: nanopartic...

Re: How do I import a PDF attachment directly?
> there's no reason to move it to the default attachment folder. There is one critical reason to have to do so. The only way to search through a PDF with the Spotlight search is when the file itself is in the default folder. Or am I missing something on that side that allows Smart groups to do Spotl...

Feature Request: Show Path to Attachment in Window
I would like to have the file path appear in the attachments window. This will help me eliminate duplicates from outside the Bookends local folder.

How do I import a PDF attachment directly?
I have a PDF attachment located in a different folder than the local BE folder. The PDF file shows in the bottom view, so its location is clearly already known to BE. For the life of me, I cannot find an immediate way to import the attachment directly to the local folder. Every option that I see mak...

How do I use the Search Panel logic more effectively?
I have to ask about the logic in the Smart Search panel. I am specifically interested in doing a search for citations that have Spotlight <searchterm> OR meta-content <searchterm>. As near as I can tell, this is however the logic: * Search for Spotlight text * AND Spotlight tags * AND first text lin...

Re: Two (Quick) Questions: Folders/Groups and Sorting for Attachments
... 2. No. But there is a built-in group Attachments, which show just the ones with attachments. And there's a pre-made SQL group you can add for finding references without attachments. Thank you. Having an ability to sort citations by the criteria with/without attachments only within the visible r...

Two (Quick) Questions: Folders/Groups and Sorting for Attachments
I have two questions as I explore Bookends in a focused use case: Two key differences between groups and folders (whether static or smart) are: (a) folders can contain anything but groups can only contain citations and (b) groups can be used to restrict searches whereas folders cannot be? When a lis...

Re: Remove a reference from a group without deleting reference?
As a comment for consideration: The method to remove and add references to groups is far more intuitive on the iPad version. Indeed, having played first with shuffling references among different groups on the iPad, I was looking for the companion folder icon on the macOS version. Eventually, after f...
