Re: Collaboration with co-authors--ideas?
I have quite a bit of experience using Bookends in a collaborative context, and these are the options that I have used: 1. Convince my collaborator to switch to Bookends, or at the very least use Bookends for this project. Obviously only works if that person uses Mac and is willing to take on the (m...

Alright, thanks Jon. Will just edit this manually then.

'Exclude authors' and conditional formatting
I am using a customized style for a project where the instructions are that if a newspaper article, whether hard copy or online, does have an author, the in-text citation should be: (LastName Year) and if it does not, the Newspaper title or in case of an online source the article title should be use...

Re: Using multiple citation modifiers?
Thanks Jon - this is (obviously) a much more straightforward solution than what I was looking for.

Using multiple citation modifiers?
I am trying to figure out a way to have a final citation be excluded from the bibliography and appear without its brackets (). For the former, I understand I can insert $ right after the initial curly bracket. For the latter, I know I can change the reference format so it does not have brackets, but...

Re: Big Sur, Multiple Display and Bookends
FWIW I am using Big Sur with a dual display setup (a pretty run-of-the-mill Samsung though, not Iyama, though I would not imagine that this makes a difference) and it works flawless with Bookends. I tried unplugging it (both power and DP) and everything resumed as it should. Zotero, in contrast, is ...

Re: Starting over
Thanks Jon. I should amend my post by saying that I meant references, not PDFs.

Re: Starting over
I am kind of in the same boat in that I have a ton of webarchives and PDFs related to old research projects that I probably will never revisit. My thinking was just to create a new library and copy over the more "current" PDFs. Since Bookends can sync multiple libraries (unlike EndNote or ...

Re: PDF proxy icon not functioning as intended
This is probably not super helpful but I had this problem with Outlook. It went away with an Outlook update. I didn’t have the same problem with Mail at the same time. This was maybe 4 months ago.

Re: Keyboard shortcuts in floating citation window
Turns out the solution was really straightforward (and had nothing to do with Bookends) and I post it here for others' reference: Turning on the "Use keyboard navigation to move focus between controls" does the trick (and then you can use up/down arrows to choose an option in the list). Th...

Keyboard shortcuts in floating citation window
I couldn't find any mention on this in the manual, so I don't know if it is possible or not, but here goes: In the "second" floating citation window after you press control-command-Y, is there a way to get over to to the Modifiers drop down and make a choice using the keyboard? I know I ca...

Webarchive preview "stuck" on different archive
I discovered this strange behavior in 13.3.1 re: webarchives. It is a bit hard to explain, but I will do my best. Whenever I save a webarchive to an Internet reference through Bookends Browser, that webarchive (let's call it webarchive1) gets "stuck" in the preview window. If I I switch to...

PDFs dragged out Bookends "corrupt"
I am pretty confident that I used to be able to just drag a PDF, using the little "page" icon in the PDF viewer to my email program, desktop, etc. Since Catalina, that no longer works—or rather, it appears to work just fine but the PDF has a size of zero and is labeled as corrupt when I tr...
