Re: Getting rid of the standalone reference window
Yes, that's the window we're talking about. :-) I'm not sure I understand why the library window (with or without the reference pane showing on the right) can't go to the second screen? With the standalone window now, if you work in the library window it will change to reflect what reference is fou...

Re: Getting rid of the standalone reference window
Apologies for wading in late on this - only back from vacation now :) Just to be clear - currently, in Preferences, my setting is to open/edit references in the Reference Window. Double clicking a reference, opens it in a standalone window. Is that what you will be removing - i.e., no more separate ...

Ah. Thanks Jon.Jon wrote:That means that when synced back with Bookends, Bookends should treat it as a non-parsable name (e.g. an institutional name, with no first and last names). It would be the equivalent of ending a name in the Authors field in Bookends with a comma.

What is: "Special - Don't Parse Names/Used in Bookends Mac"
Hello all,
As per the title - in the Names field - at the bottom, this is presented as an option to select/ switch on or off.
Had a look in the user manual - but cannot find/missed the explanation about what it is or does.
Any help explaining/clarifying?
Many thanks.

Re: Help with Global Change >> remove [space]
[Edit:SOLVED] Hello all, Would appreciate some help in doing something which is no doubt simple, but that I'm failing at! I want to remove the word "The" from the beginning of all my Journal names, so I'm using the Global Change option. I tell it to look for "The" in "Journ...

Thanks Jon - good to know.Jon wrote:I'm glad you like BOT. Yes, if you empty the BOT library your Bookends library will not be affected when you next sync.
As for the feature request, thanks for the suggestion. Serge and I will discuss it.

Re: A couple of questions before buying BOT
Serge has added that if you delete from BOT, Bookends will ask to confirm when you next sync (try with BOT Lite). Jon Sonny Software Jon, As always - appreciate the prompt assistance! I took the plunge, and purchased BOT. I am hugely disappointed -- at myself, for not purchasing it earlier! :D I wa...

A couple of questions before buying BOT
Hello all, I've had my eye on BOT for ages - but now that I'm finally getting to the point where my library on my Mac is filling up nicely - figure it will be useful to have that library with me at all times on my iPad Air. Would appreciate some clarity on the following, if someone spots this who mi...

Re: Feature request: History/Log file/viewer
Recording all events, besides being difficult and time consuming to implement and having limited usefulness, such a thing would also impact function. My suggest for you is to go to your most recent backup. If that will be missing references you've added in the last day or so, I'd merge both the old...

Feature request: History/Log file/viewer
Hello all, Curious to hear whether anyone else might find something like the suggested useful? Alternatively - is something like the requested already possible? With the usual caveat of my not knowing nearly enough about programming, to gauge in any shape or form whether this is something "simp...

Re: Splitting up automatically generated Bibliographies?
I don't know if this option gives you enough control for what you want, but you should check out Biblio -> Subject Bibliographies (see User Guide, in the Help Menu). This will output references in sections, based on a number of independent criteria. Among them are groups. So you could have referenc...

Splitting up automatically generated Bibliographies?
Hello all, Just want to confirm if this is possible? Given my background in law - it is customary (at least at my institution – and several others locally) to split a Bibliography into separate parts: 1.) General Sources (articles/books etc.); 2.) Caselaw (court cases cited); 3.) Legislation/Statute...

Re: Please help me with my workflow: Hits list
Don't forget that hits are evanescent -- if you want to keep them around for a while, make a new group (and select "add hits" when you do). When you're finished, delete the group. Jon Sonny Software Ah. I see that now. :( The groups option will no doubt work. Could you possibly explain ho...

Re: Please help me with my workflow: Hits list
You know that temp citations are just text, right? You can type them in by hand even. So if you have the same citation 5/10/15 times on a page, you can just copy it once and paste, paste, paste. The Bookends Copy Citation function is a convenience, a timesaver, and it ensures that temp citations ar...
