Hi John, The example you listed below imports just fine for me using the EBSCOHost ATLA filter we provide. Please contact us at support@sonnysoftware.com and inlcude the file you want to import as an attachment, including the items that don't import correctly, so I can see what the problem is and fi...

Quick followup: I'm back and have had a chance to check. TI and T1 are both acceptable ways of referring to the primary title field (see http://www.refman.com/support/risformat_tags_01.asp ). I have edited the RIS import filter to accept either. This (along with a few other minor changes) will be in...

Re: Bookends and MLA/Silver Platter
I have two questions: first, is there a list of markers or field tags that Bookends uses to read records for import, so that I can pre-clean data with them? (I assume these are distinct from the ones I would use to create a custom filter, but if they are the same, the user info should specify that ...

Hi Jan, I am on vacation in Italy at the moment and just saw this post. Use the EndNote (Refer) format that we supply with Bookends (enable it in the Formats window first). Select the references you want to export (make them hits). Then -- 1. Biblio -> Biblio Formatter 2. Send the 'bibliography' to ...

The bad news is that, as you found, in Bookends 7 all references are made hits when you choose Refs -> Show All References. The good news is that this will not be true in Bookends 8, which will have a much improved way of dealing with reference lists. Sorry, no date yet, but it's coming along... Jon...

Hm, I wonder if the format could be damaged? The easiest thing to do would be to send me the simple database, the simple document, and a copy of the format you are using (stuffed, please). I'll see if I can reproduce the problem here and let you know what I find. You can send them to me at support@s...

Hi Matthew, Whenever Bookends crashes during normal operation, it almost always means that the database has incurred some damage. The fix is to do File -> Database Maintenance -> Rebuild (Keep User Data). If that fails, don't Keep User Data (in case that is corrupted). The final try is to remove Boo...

The EndNote (Refer) import filter is designed to meet the needs of most people, and based upon the feedback we get it seems to work pretty well (others may care to comment). It is also easy to edit the import filter to deal with special cases. My advice is to try it with a few references (up to 50, ...

We get this question often, and we certainly have users who have written export styles and then imported into Bookends, but it seems it is not easy. One solution that has worked for some is to open the Pro-Cite database with EndNote (on a PC -- the Mac version apparently can't do this), export as Re...
