Re: Compatibility with Mac OSX 10.10 Yosemite

I've been using the public beta's of Yosemite and I've had no problems with Bookends at all, very stable overall. There are of course unresolved bugs, but there is nothing major for me. On the other hand, the new features of Yosemite are not particularly essential IMO (the major bit for me is the po...

Re: Differences between RTF and ODF transformation

Actually it doesn't work, I get the following:

Code: Select all

{\CRF\; Hartline, 1940, #437; Kuffler, 1953 #418;Barlow, 1953 #413;Hubel, 1962 #440}
becomes:

Code: Select all

(\CRF\; Hartline, 1940; Barlow, 1953; Kuffler, 1953; Hubel & Wiesel, 1962)
The \ \ are left in the final text...

Re: Problems with flat ODT Scanned Bibliographies

I'm still missing[1] a good way to escape text to stop Bookends trying to cite. I'd be happy with any exclusion system, it doesn't need to be a modified {} syntax; <!-- --> for example... ---- [1] having to jiggle equations and other text that use { } in and out of documents isn't terrible , but it ...

Re: Differences between RTF and ODF transformation

Yes, that sounds fine, thanks Jon! I'll wait for the next version and hopefully my other RTF vs. ODT issues will shake themselves out...

Re: Differences between RTF and ODF transformation

Ah, I assumed all characters within the \ \ were escaped, thus ; could be used as it is for the RTF. Is there a way to escape the characters within \ \ or can you allow \ \ to automatically escape all characters within? This is the correctly formatted RTF output: The interaction between a focussed c...

Re: Differences between RTF and ODF transformation

I'm also seeing problems with using {\ \} with ODT files. Please find a test.odt with a bookends export attached (I tried using APA 6th Edition and several others without difference). The raw text is: The interaction between a focussed central and surrounding regions of visual space has been conceiv...

Re: Differences between RTF and ODF transformation

Thanks Jon! Completely offtopic but on Yosemite public beta 5 I see the following messages in console: 08/10/2014 09:42:56.216 Bookends[356]: WARNING: The Gestalt selector gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.0 instead of 10.10.0. Use NSProcessInfo's operatingSystemVersion property to get correct ...

Re: Differences between RTF and ODF transformation

It is still reproducible with ! here with j neurophysiol, here is the ref itself if that makes a difference: [{"dateAdded":"3491311623.000000","dateModified":"3491311623.000000","location":"Center for Neuroscience, University of California, Davi...

Differences between RTF and ODF transformation

Hi, I wanted to use the [ citation modifier to replace () with [], and it didn't work in my ODF (I possibly don't understand what it is supposed to do). I made two test files (Libreoffice 4.3.2.2 and Textedit from Yosemite GM) from the text below to try the different modifiers and in the process rea...

Re: UI Request: DOI Field on Main edit ref tab

Gotta' answer for everything huh wiseguy? (Imagine a film noir setting, a sleazy bar, and a trilby hat)

Thanks Jon, very helpful! My DOI-less refs are down to the low hundreds from the low thousands! 8)

Re: UI Request: DOI Field on Main edit ref tab

Right-clicking on the doi does bring up a list of options, including taking you to the reference on the Internet. Ah, I tried right-click on the DOI button/label, didn't try the text field. Thanks! The doi is usually set-and-forget. It is never edited. And it doesn't have any styled text requiremen...

UI Request: DOI Field on Main edit ref tab

I use DOI a lot for my journal article references, but for the Edit Reference panel it is hidden away in "Additional Fields". I would love it if DOI was moved to the "Main" tab, and even better if clicking the label would bring up options related to DOI management. Are User1 / Us...

Re: Problems with flat ODT Scanned Bibliographies

I had actually tested this previous to switching over to using a converted ODT to generate the file for Bookends to Scan, testing with the ODT I can see now that the formatting is present, so that was another problem solved. I'll probably just remove my Latex equations and replace them as I prefer u...

Re: Problems with flat ODT Scanned Bibliographies

Hi, thanks Jon; indeed ODT seems to not have any of the issues I reported for FODT files. I prefer FODT as I can more easily tweaks figures and edit the XML if need be (I will therefore Save As the resultant formatted file to FODT), but this is an acceptable workaround for the moment. What is the te...

Problems with flat ODT Scanned Bibliographies

I have several bugs when I try to format flat ODT files, which I generate using Scrivener > multimarkdown > FODT and then work on in LibreOffice 4.3.1.2: MINOR: the suggested name of e.g. myname.fodt for the new document is myname.fodt.formatted -- it should be myname.formatted.fodt MAJOR: I get a G...
