Re: Integrating Bookends, Scrivener and Devonthink
The accented characters are encoded as UTF-8. When rendered as ASCII, they appear as garbage (the 3 characters in your example are typical). RTF doesn't contain UTF-8 characters -- instead, it creates Unicode entities that represent the character (in RTF, they begin with \u and are followed by a nu...

Integrating Bookends, Scrivener and Devonthink
Taking up my own suggestion ( https://www.sonnysoftware.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3444 ) I have written an applescript in order to integrate my wordprocessor of choice (Scrivener) with DevonthinkProOffice and Bookends more closely (borrowing from several other scripts, especially from this ...

Bookends and Devonthink
I have adapted the script for Bibdesk and Devonthink ( http://www.organognosi.com/how-to-connect-a-pdf-file-inside-devonthink-with-its-record-in-bibdesk/ ) mentioned here: https://www.sonnysoftware.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3385&hilit=devonthink&start=15#p15335 to work with Bookends...

Modify automatic switch to Word processor
I very much like the integration of BE with the word processor of choice (in my case: Scrivener). However, I would prefer that it only switches to Scrivener and pastes the citation when I hit "Copy citation" in contrast to "Copy formatted". Is there a way to accomplish this? Chee...

Re: Temporary citation as formatted link
Thanks for the suggestion! I will then try this on the Scrivener-Forum.Jon wrote:I can tell you that it's a simple AppleEvent, so if Keith (Scrivener) wanted to do so it would be easy to implement.
Cheers,
Nils

Re: Temporary citation as formatted link
As ocean said, Mellel has this capability. But for other word processors, you can't have one thing do be both a temp citation and a link. What you could do in Word or NWP is highlight the temp citation (preferably the unique id) and then use the "Find in Bookends" option. That would switc...

Temporary citation as formatted link
In a major academic writing project spanning several years I frequently encounter temporary citations which I have to look up in Bookends because I do not remember what the citation was about. This involves typing in the author name and comparing the date with that in the temporary citation. It woul...

Re: JSTOR in Bookends On Tap
The JSTOR direct searches use their APIs, which are not the same as the browser searches. The differences in results you see have nothing to do with Bookends, they're the results that JSTOR sends back depending on how the requests are made (Bookends doesn't actually do the search, it just submits t...

Re: JSTOR in Bookends On Tap
I am still puzzled by the differences between the different ways of searching JSTOR. Searching for "bow arrow warfare" in BOT gives me no result; looking for the same combination in the Bookends JSTOR search yields 186 hits (many, if not all as duplicates) and, finally, on JSTOR website I ...

Re: JSTOR in Bookends On Tap
1. On the JSTOR page tap on the "View PDF", you will see "JSTOR Terms and Conditions", accept them. 2. Do you use Bookends Browser? Web search gives more search results then the API based search (used in BOT). Thanks for the feedback! ad 1. I cannot see this option in BOT. There...

JSTOR in Bookends On Tap
In Bookends On Tap the associated pdf-files show up fine in pubmed or arXiv, but not in JSTOR (which is a pity, of course). Additionally, I seem to get other hits when searching JSTOR in Bookends and Bookends On Tap. Is this expected behaviour or am I missing something? Any advice is highly apprecia...

Vanishing periods in Serial titles
I am currently in the process of tweaking the citation format as I need it and encountered the following strange problem. Books without serial title should look as follows: T. Saile, Slawen in Niedersachsen (Neumünster 2007). While those with serial title (the serial title is already abbreviated in ...

Re: Adding citation before each entry in bibliography
No, Bookends won't mix formatted citations and bibliographies in the same output. That would have to be a feature request (I've made note of the request already). That would be really nice. I think I can live with it at the moment, but this missing feature might be a dealbreaker for colleagues. I w...

Re: Adding citation before each entry in bibliography
Since I don't see the same exact citation in the bibliography, I'm not sure what you're after. You may be able modify the bibliography output to include what the in-text citation would look like. In the case below, however, you couldn't because the "Meyer 2011" has just the surname, where...

Adding citation before each entry in bibliography
Coming from Endnote, I am new to Bookends, so please excuse if I have missed an obvious feature or if the following has been asked before (at least I did not manage to find similar posts). Our citation guidelines request that we add the respective citation before each entry in the bibliography. So, ...
