Re: More information about import filters in general
how do you make an import filter for a library or database you're interested in? Is it difficult? Good questions that would be better in the Bookends forum, but... Making a filter is pretty easy (well, IMO). It's quite logical, and spelled out in detail in the User Guide. The thing that usually giv...

Re: Licencing?
Hi guys, I work on both a laptop and a desktop computer. I'm just wondering whether my licence for Bookends is per-user or per-machine: can I install it legitimately on both without buying a new licence? Hi Staph, It's per user. If you are the only user, you can legitimately use it on a laptop and ...

Yes. Here are the instructions (from our web site, and in an appendix in the User Guide as well). Do this with 50 references exported from EndNote 4 to make sure it works for you (the name of the style in EndNote 4 may or may not be the same as EndNote 6/7, but it should be close -- if you can't fig...

Hi Davide,
That means you are using the original release of Word X. It didn't allow developers to place their own icons in toolbars.
A subsequent patch to Word fixed this (I think there were two patches in all). You can download that latest from the
www.mactopia.com
web site.

Re: Spelling
Jon: you are right. I am using Devon Word Service and CocoaSpell with OX 10.35. Obviously there is a problem here as I cannot make Bookends to access the speller via Services, Any help? You have to uninstall Devon Word Services -- it's either a bug in their software or in OS X, but whichever, Word ...
Bookends supports Services in OS 10.2 or later, so it should support spelling via CocoaASpell (there can be a problem with DevonThink Word Services preventing Bookends from accessing Services in OS 10.2 -- not sure about 10.3). As for supporting spelling via Mellel -- that would require that they pr...
I'm not sure what you mean. Mellel doesn't offer a spelling Service. There is free one, though, that you can install: CocoaAspell It can be found at http://www.ict.usc.edu/~leuski/cocoaspell/home.html I haven't used it, but it looks like it would fit the bill (and it has dictionaries for many langua...

The field labels don't change as a function of Type -- they are constant. What does change is the way the fields are handled when creating a bibliography. For example, the Volume field holds the volume number of a Journal Article, but holds the title of the book when a Book Chapter is cited. If a fi...
