BTW, you can preview the formatted reference while you are in the Reference window. Press Command-E.

That's not a bad idea, but may be hard to implement well. It makes sense if you create a new reference and then immediately close it. But the reference window can stay open while you perform other tasks, and you may not want the reference selected in the List View when you finally close that window....

Re: Two feature requests. (Groups and journal glossary)
Seems like a reasonable idea. I'll look into it.hombre wrote:I wanted to be able to drop the selected references on white space. As I said, like it's possible in iTunes.

Hi hombre, I think it's one more in a seemlingly endless list of things I would need to learn/implement/support! :-) Actually, I think it's not a bad idea. This forum is supposed to provide some of that, but of course the information is not organized in any way. I'll look into it. Thanks for the sug...

Re: Two feature requests. (Groups and journal glossary)
I would love to be able to create a new (static) group by dragging a bunch of selected references to the list of groups. I imagine it to behave like a playlist in iTunes. You mean if you drop on "white space"? Or a nonstatic group, like All? Possible. But right now you can simply right-cl...

Hi Chris, As you see, the sort is based on the names entered in the database. There really is no other intelligent way of doing this. If this is a problem for you, you can use the Authors Term List to see all the names (as they are entered in the database). A global find/replace in the authors field...

To go from Bookends *to* Refworks no doubt involves exporting the references from Bookends in a particular plain text tagged format (like Refer or RIS). Bookends has a format for Endnote Refer, and may for RIS (I can't check at the moment). If not, it's easy to make one. Then use Bibliography Format...

It's a small thing -- it gets the next number, because that makes the most sense if you duplicate while in the reference window (otherwise, it would go to the end of the db, which is probably not what you want). It makes less sense when you duplicate from the List View, of course, but since the same...

Right now, Bookends will do this if you hold the Option key down when you switch groups. I could make that the default if people want it (it's not the default now, because I thought people would be too easily confused if they clicked on another group and no references showed up (because there were n...
