Re: Workflow Example: Bookends -> Obsidian

I looked into your workflow in fresh eyes now. Thank you for the explanation. I see that your intention is to display the annotated pdf alongside the annotation file within Obsidian, so that you will be able to review your notes and annotations within Obsidian. That is interesting; and very useful f...

Re: Workflow Example: Bookends -> Obsidian

I have tried it a couple of time; but Obsidian never stick to me. But, workflows like this could make me change my mind. Dear DrJJWMac, adding a little more explanation on the benefits of the workflow would have been make the workflow more helpful. - is the intention to export the Notes within Be to...

Sorry;
I mentioned it because I thought they might have the same cause: failure to have access (permission) to AppleEvents.

Re: Scrivener Problem

Version 4.1.6 worked as expected for me. It didn't request permission for the automation. But, it is working as expected.

Very strange; the latter versions are not able to copy citation and create Synced Bib.

(The Export Reference window never shows up; and the created Bib file is becomes 0 bytes).

Re: Scrivener Problem

Yes, I reset it. But, BE is not requesting it.

The same issue with Popclip.
KM and Alfred are able to request and gain the permission.

Thankful, I still have @iandol's workflow to search and insert references. I am using it to insert citations for now.

Re: Scrivener Problem

I am having the same issue. For me, BE is not requesting permission at all.
Resetting and rebooting did nothing.

Re: Request/idea: NoteCard browser

You raise a good point about another app editing the file, in which case Bookends really shouldn't be allowed to overwrite it. I now think recreating a one-way "sync" to mimic the BibTeX file sync is the wrong approach. We already have the much more powerful and flexible Extract PDF Annot...

Re: Request/idea: NoteCard browser

Thank you for bringing the Extract annotations feature.
I don't know when this was added. I just tried it now; works great. Thanks.

Re: Request/idea: NoteCard browser

Dear Jon, I fully agree with your points number 2&3. It sounds great. 2. Notes would be output per reference, as they appear in the Notes field, as Markdown to a single .md file. Each reference's notes would contain a Markdown link back to the reference. Yes 3. I'm thinking each reference's note...

Re: Request/idea: NoteCard browser

I support JJW's idea of exporting to markdown. That will remove the barrier or dependence to specific app. Obsidian is the popular app today. Another app will be popular tomorrow. For that, exporting using markdown format will make the notes accessible to any app that can use them. I would specifica...

Re: Citation key options for multiple authors

If the default citekey is changed I wouldn't be happy. Same here. I rely on the citekey to do a lot of other things. A change on it means I have to re-do every configuration I built around it (file renaming for example). As to the identification of the right papers, there are a couple of strategies...

Off the wall: How do you organize your references (reading lists)

Tinderbox forum has off-the-wall section where users use to discuss new (and probably wild), and only tangentially relevant issues. The developers are not supposed to respond on that section. Users discuss whatever they want--and, the developers might skim through the discussion in case there are id...
