Re: Feature Request: Open Attachment Button
I second Edwin’s request. :) Why not Command-Shift=O? Because I often use the mouse / external trackpad and thus would have to move both hands away from their current location and to the keyboard to use the shortcut. (And I would have to be aware of and memorize it in the first place – something whi...

Syncing one Bookends database to several iOS devices
I have one Bookends database that I use and maintain on my Mac. In addition, I have an iPhone and and iPad that both have BOT installed. I recently realized that syncing BOT on the iOS devices with Bookends only adds stuff added since the last sync, regardless of the fact if the last sync actually c...

Re: watch folder and automated group creation?
Finally, note that it is likely that at some point we will move to using Dropbox for syncing databases. Two GB is far more than anyone needs for this. Of course, PDFs are another matter. And even if we use Dropbox for metadata, you would be able to use any other service (like box.com) for attachmen...

Re: Online search not working
Did you try searching with different services (i.e. Google Scholar, Library of Congress, …)?

Re: Loss of Italics in 12.2
Could it be possible that you have changed a font (for example to Helvetica, which does not include an italic face)?
Swift?
Hi Jon – any thoughts on Swift as a new programming language? I guess from your perspective it could have come two years earlier and thus would have saved you the trouble of switching to Objective C in the first place…?

Re: Blog posts
One thing that I would recommend when you use a lot of blog posts in your database is to (a) make sure that you save an archive of the website along with the reference (i.e. not only a link), and (b) ponder if it might not make sense to create a new reference type for blog posts, as this might make ...

Re: Beginner's question: where do I keep my quotes?
It is probably easiest if you use the Note Stream feature built into Bookends. You can find more about this on page 76 of the User Guide. You essentially separate quotes by a double line break and begin them with an “@" sign and the page number – like this: @15 This is the nice quotation that I...

Re: Annotating pdfs/extracting highlights as quotes
One feature would be to have Bookends automatically display pdf notes as notecards (virtual notecards, if you will, which will be colored differently from real notecards). As of now these will not included comments (also called Text or Free Text), which are generally short and meant to call attenti...

Re: enhancement requests
By tapping on the status bar you could use iOS's scroll to top feature, where the search bar is located. Sorry for being somewhat daft – what/where is the status bar? I tapped around a bit but couldn’t find a way to scroll to the top… Thanks for considering making the sync action more access...
