enhancement requests
Hei Serge, now that I have finally acquired an iPad (Air), I have become a much more frequent user of BOT than when I just had an iPhone. This also means that I discovered some things that could be improved (or that I still don’t fully understand). Here are two: Scrolling through the list of referen...

Re: Temporary citation as formatted link
Switching to Mellel would enable this behavior. No idea if this is scriptable for Jon (i.e. you have to select the entire citation and then fire up an Apple Script?)
Re: Pages 5.0
Where do you get 4.3 as a version number? I can only find 5.0Jon wrote:There is also a direct feedback for Pages 4.3 (I believe that's the official numbering)
(Other than that: thanks for the feedback examples! Not that I would hope for a fast change here, but at least we should try…)
Pages 5.0
As I see, Pages still only supports Endnote from within – such a pity, seems I need to submit a new Enhancement Request again. Dear fellow Bookends users, please do so too! Here is the link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html Other than that it seems that Apple has changed the .pages file form...

Re: Suppressing year?
What you can do in such a case is to suppress the whole citation from showing up in the formatted text (but it would still remain in the "code" version). Would that help?
Re: BE 12.0.5
Yes, indeed – I was pleasantly surprised when I opened 12.0.5 for the first time.

Re: Suppressing a ":" When No Pages Cited
Couldn’t you solve this by creating an extra reference type for these texts (i.e. reference works)? Other than that you can of course use {xyz\…\} in your citations instead of the {xyz@…}-based constructions to work around this. (At least if I have understood the issue correctly…)

Re: Once more: subtitles
I usually follow the Library of Congress standard and separate title and subtitle with space-colon-space:
title : subtitle
Then it is much easier to do a search & replace to adapt to specific requirements or even getting rid of the whole subtitle.

Re: Double page numbers
Sounds like a good solution!Jon wrote:Perhaps I could add a feature where placing a comma after the pages would tell Bookends to leave them as entered (just like we have for authors and titles)?

Check if you have entered a space before the "et al." in your format definition (see screenshot)

Re: Bookends 12 released
Just a brief guess: to me it looks as if the rest of the bibliography is formatted as superscript (that is, the font size remains the same, but the style is switched to superscript). No real idea why this is happening though… Does this happen also if you leave out the Kislev et al. citation in the g...

Re: Bookends 12 released
As nicka, I would also recommend to normalize all your font sizes (and other styles) in the database entries themselves. (At least as long as you don’t need them as such.) This is the command you can use: Screen Shot 2013-07-04 at 12.29.31.jpg As soon as you have done this, you can define the size i...

Re: Bookends 12 released
Yes, excellent indeed. Using Bookends has been a steady and reliable help over the course of my whole academic career. Thanks Jon! If you would like to say something about the process of switching to Cocoa (biggest challenges, pleasant/unpleasant surprise, biggest benefit for you?) I would love to h...
