User-defined fields
I have been using fields user1 and user4 to store information, but in order to use a macro someone else has written, it seems I need to use user1 for the BibTex key. But it is not clear to me how I work out which fields it would be safe to move my data to. Are there any user fields that are not used...

Re: Two feature suggestions
I see that, though you have to have a reference selected even if you don't want to attach anything to it and intend to attach the PDF to a new reference, otherwise the File/Folder choice is greyed out. And I cannot work out a way to attach more than one reference at a time this way. What I have in m...

Re: Two feature suggestions
Sorry to have missed that, but I think it covers only part of what I suggested. It will attach a PDF to an existing reference, but does not provide the option of importing and attaching to newly-created references. If no reference is selected, the two options are greyed out. It seems you need to dra...

Two feature suggestions
(1) Unless I have missed it, there is an option for "Chapter in edited book" but not for "Chapter in a book authored by someone else". I am entering bibliographic data for someone who frequently wrote "Forewords" and "Prefaces" for other peoples' books, and th...

marking reference as hit
I know that a reference can be added to the hits list by clicking the check box, but is there a keystroke that will do this? When going through a long list of references, this would be useful to avoid having to move from keyboard to mouse and back again. I assume it is there but I just cannot find o...

References that have been published several times
First, sorry if there is an answer to this in the forum or the manual, or it it should be obvious, but I am not sure what keywords to search for to find it. Maybe it is not a Bookends query in that it is not something that should be done in Bookends, but it is related to using Bookends output. What ...

Re: Something wrong with highlight in v. 13?
It is not quite as bad as it seems because if you exit the PDF by going to another reference, and then reopen it, the highlighting is displayed properly. So it is stored correctly which just about makes it usable.

Sync and antivirus
Has anyone had any issues with direct sync between Bookends and Bookends on Tap when antivirus software is installed on the Mac? I installed some antivirus software today -- British Telecom branded McAfee -- and when I tried a sync, BOT could not find Bookends. I made Bookends an exception in the li...

Re: Selecting references by date
Sorry for being blind to the obvious but, I just realised this is trivially easy. Sort by date and then just select the desired range. No need to do a search at all.

Selecting references by date
This must be possible, but I cannot work out how to select all the references earlier than a particular date. The reason is that I have just finished a large project and want to export all references, dated 1945-12-31 or earlier, which I am probably not going to cite again, into a separate Database, ...

Feature request: split screen working
Having started using Scrivener for iOS, it would be great if Bookends on Tap could be opened using the split screen feature. Being able to use it alongside Scrivener would be great, especially if an easy way were found to copy/paste across reference ID's.
