It seems to me there's an interesting interface inconsistency with links, especially when compared to attachments. Consider 3 cases: viewing existing links; creating the first link from 1 reference to another; creating subsequent links from 1 reference to another. 1. To view an existing link: Click ...

Re: Questions & Suggestion re: keywords
It might be worthwhile to point out here that what is called "Concise View" here and in the Preferences is called "View summary" in the Bookends window and "Summary" in the View menu.

Re: Link to DevonThink2 Library
My (uninformed) first thought is that jebni's solution is preferable: I have a sneaking worry that DT might move things around in such a way that Bookends loses track of them, and in any case I wouldn't want to have to uncover all my PDFs in the Finder in order to drag them from DT to Bookends. Are ...

Re: Article in an edited book or collection of essays
OK, I've had a few days to think about this. Here are some thoughts: 1. In my copy of Bookends 11, at least, the highlighted fields for Conference proceedings are Authors, Title, Date, Key (all expected), and Conf Name. If the Proceedings volume is essentially a book, why aren't the Volume and the P...

Re: Tag cloud size differential
For me, seeing, for example, "asynchronous_CMC" and "asynchronous CMC", or "book" and "books", or "Krashen" and "Krashen's" next to each other in the tag cloud indicates that I've been chaotic in my tagging, so I go straight into the Keywor...

Re: Article in an edited book or collection of essays
Yes, but it seems to me that "Conference proceedings" conflates two types of reference: the volume (similar to the edited book type) in which all the proceedings are collected, and an individual paper (similar to the book chapter type) within the proceedings volume. Perhaps someone else co...

Re: Bookends links don't work in Bookends!
Thanks, florestan. I had searched in the manual under "linking" rather than "link" or "links", and my search threw up the sections on linking to word processors and on metatypes, and I convinced myself that the latter had replaced the old "links" functionality...

Re: Article in an edited book or collection of essays
The chapter in a book functionality is really good. A similar type of thing that always causes me problems (both knowing the correct format and working out how to produce it) is a paper in a conference proceedings volume. It's like a chapter in a book in that it has the "In [proceedings volume ...

Bookends links don't work in Bookends!
In my notes for a reference, I sometimes refer to another reference, and it would be nice to actually be able to go to the referred to reference without doing another search. The obvious thing to try was "Copy hypertext link/Copy as link". This creates a bookends://sonnysoftware.com/xxxx t...

Re: Tag cloud size differential
I forgot to mention that the tag cloud is a new feature that many users probably haven't used much yet, so it's difficult to formulate an opinion. Might be good to revisit this topic in a couple of months?

Re: Tag cloud size differential
I also think the tag cloud is fun and useful. The smallest size is very clear to me, and I wouldn't mind it a tiny bit smaller, and would probably make it smaller if there were options. And the difference between a tag with 1 instance and 100 instances (for example) is smaller than I would expect. S...

Re: Displaying PDF annotations in the reference window
Strange. I'm not seeing them. Are there any tips/workarounds, and is everyone else seeing them OK?Bookends can read Skim notes.

Re: Displaying PDF annotations in the reference window
On a related note, I see that annotations made in Preview are recognized while those made in Skim aren't. Are Skim annotations fundamentally different in nature?
