Reprinted book

I am slightly confused on this one. I have several books by an author which have been reprinted recently, but whose original publication date was say 1956. I have tried putting 1956 in the original publication field, but only the current date shows and nothing shows that it is a reprint. I have trie...

Re: Repairing the database

First, I am sorry if there was any attitude coming through the first post. It was very late when I put it up and I may have not phrased it the best. Now, my problem is that while I can see the library when I perform the Show Bookends folder in Finder, that does not help when I access File Library Ma...

Repairing the database

How does one repair the database when it is in the Library folder that Bookends cannot see even if you use TinkerTool to make the folder visible to the Finder?

Mellel, Bookends, and Scrivener

I have been trying to put together some of my dissertation in Scrivener and then move it to Mellel. I just finished a bunch and wanted to see what I had, so I copied it into Mellel via cut and paste. It recognized the footnotes just fine but does not see my temporary citations. They are untouched fr...

Re: using Bookends with Scrivener and Pages/Word not working

While I love Pages myself—wrote the first chapter of the dissertation in it (the old Pages)—the problems with it have lead me away from it as well. If you are using Scrivener, try Nisus Writer Pro. It has native RTF format and is very nice. Or, try Mellel. Mellel is a dream with Bookends and imports...

Re: Paste into Notes

Sure, you can paste from any source into the Notes field. Just in case, check to make sure that in Bookends Preferences you have set Command-V to Paste and Match Style. You'll want that. Jon Sonny Software Thank you very much the reminder to set the preferences the correct way. That would not have ...

Re: Past into Notes

You can tell it is at the end of the day and that I hand typed the title to the question. That was supposed to be "paste" not "past". Sorry about that! And now I'm doubly sorry about this post, because I finally figured out how to edit the previous one. I'm going to go away for a...

Paste into Notes

I do most of my writing using Dragon for Mac. So obviously I like to dictate my notes when I'm building up notes for a reference. However, the makers of the Dragon software have concentrated most on webpages and various word processors in terms of compatibility. It works (supposedly, as I do not use...

Re: Watch Folder

I found a post in here that says the watch folder is only aware of PDFs and such that are added to the folder after it begins watching. Darn. I am trying that out now, and will report back.

Watch Folder

There is clearly something I do not understand about the watch folder, and thus am not able to make efficient use of it. I have all of my PDFs of other people's papers in a folder, grouped in subfolders by the authors names. I have tried making the high level folder the watch folder and that has not...

Deleting Reference should not be so easy

I was working in a reference, and struggling with trying to get multiple paragraphs in a single note card. I ended up duplicating a paragraph. So I clicked on that note card, and tapped the delete key. A little thing came up and said this is undoable (I read it rather rapidly, because it never occur...

How is the #@12 This is a header supposed to work?

I have tried that, and the first line of my note looks like this. #@19–21 Demise of Cognitivism

It continues to look that way after I close and reopen the note. Was something supposed to happen, or did I just get the wrong impression from the update notes? Cheers!
