Re: request: linking (sort of) from Mellel

Similar to option double click a citation in Mellel? Well, howdy doody— I never knew about that! Thanks! Having said that though, it is not working for me with citations in the actual document, I receive a "Citation not Found" error from Bookends. It does work correctly when option>double...

request: linking (sort of) from Mellel

I'd like to request the ability to right-click on a BE citation in Mellel and choose an option to "go to citation" in BE, which would act in the same manner as a BE URL link. This would be very helpful for going back and forth between these two programs, and heighten the integration.

Re: Bookends attachments folder and DevonThink database

I'm still in the process of learning how DT's new database structure functions. If it is in one folder in the database, will it stay there forever? If so, this type of attach would be very good indeed. But if I move that pdf in the database, will it move folders in the actual package? You'd also hav...

Re: Writing/Organizing Tools

I've looked in detail at ideamason and am unclear on what it does that Devonthink doesn't. what is it specifically doing for you that you want out of a Mac program?

Re: Writing/Organizing Tools

DEVONthink Pro is what you want. That, in combination with Mellel or Pages and Bookends or Sente does what IdeaMason does, and much more

Re: Automating adding PDF files

I'm currently trying to somehow bridge the gap between Devonthink and Bookends and try create Bookends references for files I have stored in Devonthink. I have doubts whether GUI scripting with AppleScript will work as Bookends behaves a bit intractably, but macro tools like QuicKeys are very helpf...

I can't see them rewriting the Finder AGAIN for Leopard 2 (the Finder is Carbon afaik)

Re: Nested folders

Agreed. I'd also like to see the ability to have 'groups' as part of the limiting options for a smart group, so you can nestle smart groups in a folder that it is associated with, and not have to remember to always do it via virtual groups

other programs do recognize the mask - at least ones I use. Only BE doesn't.

PDF preview

I crop my PDF's using Preview's new cropping abilities but noticed that croppings aren't recognized in BE's PDF viewer. This makes me think that Preview is just masking the PDF's, but I digress. DEVONthink and Adobe Reader recognize the crop, and was wondering if BE could too.

DOIng something with DOI's

I've brought this up before, but I'd like to see some functionality with DOI's in BE. There are 2 or 3 things I would like to see: 1) There be a small button, just like the URL button, on the DOI field. This button would launch the DOI using the dx.doi resolver. 2) Have BE automatically link the DOI...

Could bookends determine the language for the article from the "language" field? i.e. if it saw "English" or if the field was blank it would assume the title was English?

I agree though, a non-english word in a mostly English title would still be problematic.....

John, I and others have requested this from Mellel but the snail's pace of Mellel's development will likely never bring this about. The only word processor I know that does this is on the PC - the Nota Bene suite. I agree it would be a cool feature - but it is entirely a word processor function.

Would it be possible to have a code at the beginning of the field or something to toggle on a record level that would signal Bookends to leave capitalization like it is entered? This would be very helpful for German and French book titles. I agree with you that this would be a good idea, I believe ...
