Re: Bookends 14.1.7: Citekeys
Thank you for the links dear iandol. Those are very interesting discussions. I think one of the comments in the link put a valid point against my intention/request: What is beyond doubt is that using bibkeys with only English alphabet and numbers you will not face any problem in any case, and it is ...

Re: Bookends 14.1.7: Citekeys
You can keep your old citekeys and file names and they'll still work. Just pick a new symbol (e.g. $) for new citekeys/file names where before you used the Unicode character. Thank you, I can do that. This is not that of a big issue, to be honest. But, I also would like suggest the ascii to be just...

Re: Bookends 14.1.7: Citekeys
Why not pick a different, ASCII, character going forward? Jon Sonny Software This change is forcing me to re-do a lot of library setups I already did (and, hopped I settled :D ). The problem is I made the file renaming format in BE to use the CiteKeys. I used the latin small capital B to attach on ...

Bookends 14.1.7: Citekeys
Why is it important to remove the non-ascii characters from the citekeys?Non-ASCII characters will be removed from citekeys generated by Bookends.
This change is going to screw me because I setup my system using a non-ascii character, the small capital letter ʙ.

Re: Seeking insights on (copyright) limits to sharing journal articles
In the humanities, the current convention among scientists is this: either you publish it in an Open Access journal: or, share the preprint in an online repository. So, you have to make your paper available to the broad community, in one or the other means.

BibTex format in the new version (BE 14.1.5)
When formatting, the BibTeX Markup setting will only be applied if the format name contains the word BibTeX - Are we supposed to rename our export format to just BibTex; or other variants such as Dellu_bibtex types of patterns will also work? If it does not, the reference will be output as styled t...

Re: cmd-Y, cmd-K and floating citations in Mojave
I just found out that CMD+Y automatically pastes on almost all editors, including DT, Curiota, Word etc; except on Scapple.
I don't know why Scapple is rejected.

Re: Get DOI from pdf
Dear Jon, Yes, that is exactly what I am doing right now. But, given the DOI detection technology is already there, I think, it would be great to make it available to the user as well. The main advantage is it can get the DOI hundreds of files. Isn't that the main advantage of computation? A lot of ...

Get DOI from pdf
- The current Get DOI menu appears to use the title of the article to search it in the Crossref database to get the DOI. I personally rarely get results with this menu. Most of the time, it gets no results. - I know BE has an internal system to get DOIs from the first few pages of a pdf file. I was ...

The scope of AND and OR in the smart search
I couldn't understand how the scope of OR and AND works in the Smart Search. I want to filters books and Edited Books by a specific Author, call him Spencer. I am able to do using the Regex search: (authors REGEX 'Spencer' OR editors REGEX 'Spencer') AND ("type" = 2 OR "type" = 6...

Re: Add Replace feature to the REGEX search
I am also getting these pesky
/ </jats:p /
in my abstracts.
But, I am puzzled by Jon comment on Valentina Studio. Are you telling me that I can just open the bdb file and manipulate it there?

Re: Add Replace feature to the REGEX search
Yes, the Global changes are what give BE incredible powers. I love each and every of the commands there. But, I had moments where I coveted for an advanced (REGEx) replace command. What do you want to do that can't be accomplished with them? I had many cases that require advanced replace. But, the o...
