I have found a tentative workflow for Academic research using BE, DT and Scrivener (Mellel works as well). I download pdfs, import them to BE's attachment folder, copy the attachments folder contents to DEVONThink and write in Scrivener. After importing BE attachments to DT, I apply a color label to...

There are two different issues here: 1. Should Bookends rename files found via Spotlight. I'm not necessarily against this, but I'm suggesting that you will be asked 20 times for 20 pdfs to agree/not agree. There could be a Preference to turn this off and make it automatic, of course. I would think...

Would it be possible or would you consider adding such an option in the future? For example, I cannot access EBSCO directly via BE, I must log in to my University and use a browser to search and copy each article to a saved, temporary folder on their site. In order to be efficient, I have all checke...

Bookends assumes that since you already have the pdf it is named as you like. If it renames it automatically, you'll have two copies of the pdf (the original and the moved copy) with different names. I'm not sure that's a great idea. Jon Sonny Software When using the attach pdf (via the attachment ...

Ffrr Full Text search option?
Hi, When using the internet search function, is it possible add a field for free full text only (where appropriate, such as for pub med searches?). I have access to EBSCO via my university's library but I don't think I can access that database with Bookends directly and I'd rather not have to altern...

Automatic Renaming of Attachments when using "find loca
Hi, When using the CM on a new reference to choose "find and attach local pdf", I noticed that the attachment is not (always?) renamed to the author - year format. When using the attachment inspector it offers to rename the pdf. I am copying (not moving) the pdf to the attachments folder. ...

the website says they are planning an Os/X version. Now why is it that an ancient (in the computer world) program can search inside BE databases, and spotlight cannot? that's annoying! FYI: It notes that no Mac OS X native version of UltraFind is planned . I don't use Spotlight much. I find it unre...

Hi Jon, I changed 'v,' to 'v(i)' in the APA format reference manager and it does't seem to work. I end up with the volume, issue and page formatted like so: '12 3283-98'. It should look like: '12(3), 283-98.' Also, when I add a new entry to the database from the same reference, the issue number disa...

APA format question
Hi, I'm a newb looking for some BE goodness. I have created a new format filter , based on the shipped EBSCO PsychInfo filter, that includes the issue number. I simply added 'IS' to the volume field so that it looks like this: "VL, IS". This results in the volume number followed by the iss...
