Hi arvind,

Bookends dbs cannot be updated via a web interface. It's something we may consider in the future if there is enough demand for it, though.

Hi Michael, The situation where you know nothing (so to speak) is more difficult. But if you want to suppress the colon if there is no location, you should make the binding quote (~) follow the location field (you have it bound to the publishers field). Try this: a, t|~ (~u11~)~|~, ed++. ~e|~, trans...

You can't do that. But formats do give you the option to sort by 1st Author, Date, Other Authors, which may be satisfactory.

Thanks Richard. It's certainly an interesting idea and food for thought. You didn't happen to set a "set selection" option with styled text, did you? :-)

Doing it via AppleScript is an interesting idea, but I don't know how well that would really work. There is a lot more to scanning a document than just collecting the citations. And simply setting text to a uniform style is hardly adequate for formatted citations or bibliography entries. Certainly, ...

Hi,

OK, I see the problem. It works for Title Case, but not Sentence case. I think I've fixed it (preliminary testing works), and you'll see this in 9.0.4.

:-)

We'll see. Actually, in your case this feature would have to be implemented by Mellel itself (with cooperation from Bookends).

Hi niklas, I would be delighted to have users submit formats for us to include (we already do include some third party formats, like SBL from Danny). I'm not sure a dedicated feature built into Bookends is the way to go. But I would encourage you and anyone else who has created a format we don't pro...

Are you using Bookends 9.0.3? I'm pretty sure this was fixed a while ago. If you are, please contact me directly and we'll see what the problem is.

Hi terceiro,

The solution you found, to suppress the citation, is the correct one. Actually, this feature was created to deal with this exact situation.

Hi Joe,

I doubt there is anything I can do, but if you zip and send me your database I'll take a look.

ScienceDirect doesn't have z39.50 search capability, AFAICT. Is that wrong? If not, you have to use a browser interface. Then export citation is the way to go.

Hi, You'll notice at the top right is an option to "Export Citation". Do that, in RIS format. Bookends provides a filter that reads RIS and enters the reference into Bookends. Please refer to the User Guide for more info about import filters, how to edit them, and how to use them. Jon Sonn...

Closing the window makes sense for journals, but what if you are inserting authors or keywords? And I don't want to make the behavior dependent on which list you are using. And in the end, as you say, it's pretty minor. So I think the changes I'll make will pretty much take care of the issues you ra...
