Re: Using Notecards

I, too, am looking forward to integrate Notecards with DEVONThink (and/or Tinderbox). I have two stumbling blocks: (1) DEVONThink (DT), in beta 2, no longer has the useful feature called Sheets. This allowed viewing of references exported en block from BE to DT, through a BibTex export from BE. You ...

Re: Emailing multiple PDFs from Bookends

Works for me, from a database with >12K references.

In-text citation as a field?

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere (could not find it), but is it possible to assign an in-text citation (e.g. {Author, Year}) as a field in a bibliography format?

Re: notecards

What if notecards work along the lines proposed in the attached screenshot? A nice implementation, indeed. However, unless I am missing something, these notes would not be accessible to external applications (except through copy/paste) which would defeat the original goal of this thread. I was envi...

Re: notecards

ricki articulated, far clearer that I have, the rationale for including in the notes a link back to the reference. I suppose the notes would need to be RTF for that to work.
Thanks for being open to this!

Re: notecards

This is potentially interesting. Perhaps automatically add, to each card, a link to the original reference, or additional metadata. We could then index these cards in applications such as DEVONThink.

Re: Unique identifier as a reference field?

Perfect, thanks. (The first mention of this in the manual is down in the Server chapter.)

Unique identifier as a reference field?

Is it possible to assign the unique identifier as a field? This would be useful, for example, when exporting references to a DevonThink sheet, so that the hypertext link is included.

Naming PDFs

I have set Preferences to name imported PDF as "author, date", This works fine for PDFs I import from my hard drive. However, PDFs downloaded from Pubmed are always named "author, year, unique identifier". Is it possible to set a preferred naming scheme for Pubmed downloads?

Re: Local PDFs

One reason to have PDFs in other folders is to be able to integrate Bookends with applications like EagleFiler.
If you do offer options for PDF management, perhaps include also the option to delete the original after importing to Bookends' default folder. Thanks.

Re: Gathering text selections in the notes field

I wholeheartedly support the request to have a shortcut (or a contextual menu) to directly import into BE's notes field. An option to import as either txt or rtf would be nice, too. I am hoping to be able to use BE as the primary tool in my workflow, and this option will make this process much more ...

do NOT include manual in download

I disagree. Prefer to have the option to download the manual if and when I need it. Of course, it is possible to please everyone: have a combined download, in addition to separate files.
